ADAM McPhee is one step closer to becoming a Fremantle player after officially nominating for the NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft.

McPhee was the only out of contract listed player to nominate for the draft before Tuesday’s 2pm deadline.

The deadline for any remaining delisted primary list players to nominate for this draft is Tuesday December 8.

Former Essendon utility McPhee is set to join his original club Fremantle, which has the third overall pick in the December 15 draft.

Melbourne is set to take former Lion Joel Macdonald with the first pick, while Richmond is expected to go for youth with the second overall selection.

The Sydney Swans will commit to former Lion Daniel Bradshaw with the fourth pick.

McPhee’s departure from Essendon gives the Bombers a pick while West Coast will also have a selection following Tyson Stenglein’s retirement.

The 27-year-old played 25 games for Fremantle in 2001 and 2002 before crossing to the Bombers, where he played a further 142 matches, winning the club's best-and-fairest award and an All-Australian guernsey in 2004.
