FOR NEW Brisbane Lion Josh Walker, his goals are pretty simple – be consistent and give the midfielders someone to kick to.

The Lions have been craving a forward line focal point since the retirement of champion Jonathan Brown in 2013 and lured Walker from Geelong in the recent trade period.

After trying Dan McStay, Jono Freeman and Michael Close – before he ruptured his ACL – in the spearhead role last season, Walker is expected to take some pressure off their young shoulders.

The 22-year-old former Cat has played 33 games in his brief career, kicking 35 goals, including a career-best five against the Lions in round 18.

Putting on his new team's colours for the first time and speaking to the club's website, Walker said his career needed the move.

"If I can be a regular performer and deliver on a regular basis, then I think that's my job done," Walker said.

"I'll be playing as that key forward. If I can provide a target and someone for the midfielders to go to, that's the best thing I can do."

Walker's addition last month, along with fellow Cats youngster Jarrad Jansen, continues a growing Geelong influence at the Gabba.

Clever midfielder Allen Christensen and ruckman Trent West have also made the move north in the past two years.
