All the teams for Round 12 in the Smithy’s VFL.

Hawthorn fans will be flocking to the Swinburne Centre on their way to the MCG for Saturday’s Dustin Martin spectacular, with star forward Mitch Lewis selected to make his long-awaited return from injury for the Box Hill Hawks in their Smithy’s VFL clash with Richmond.

Lewis hurt his knee in the Hawks’ Easter Monday AFL loss to Geelong and has now been out for 10 weeks, despite being named to play for Box Hill three weeks later. He is expected to play half a game in the VFL this week before hopefully returning to the soaring AFL team after its bye next week.

His selection boosts a Box Hill forward line that will be without the promoted Nick Watson after eight goals in two weeks and veteran Chad Wingard, who has a minor calf niggle.

Seamus Mitchell, Bailey Macdonald and Clay Tucker have all been selected for the Swinburne Centre clash and Drouin youngster Seb Amoroso will make his debut.

Richmond has suffered two more cruel injury blows, with in-form key forward Archie May to miss up to two months with a broken wrist, while star ball winner Chad Harris is out for a month with a hamstring problem, but Austin Johnson and Nick Guiney are back from their own injuries.

Footscray received mixed news at selection as it looks to bounce back from a rare loss with Riley Garcia and Lachie McNeil to provide midfield steel against the Sydney Swans at Mission Whitten Oval on Saturday.

The duo have been somewhat surprisingly sent back from the AFL, but the VFL team won’t mind given it has lost Anthony Scott to promotion and Jordan Croft and Luke Cleary to concussion.

The Bulldogs will also finally get to unveil ruck recruit Cameron Owen against his former AFL club, with the Tasmanian selected after being listed as at least three weeks away with a back injury only last week.

Corey Warner is a welcome inclusion for the Swans after a month out with an ankle injury, while Academy prospect Lachlan Cabor returns to replace the hamstrung Nic Shipley.

Sydney will also unveil a recruit, with former Geelong VFL and West Perth defender Matty Lloyd signing with the club during the week and being rushed straight into the team.

Tim Membrey returns from AFL duty for Sandringham, which has been forced into six changes for its trip to Queensland to take on the Brisbane Lions at Brighton Homes Arena on Saturday.

Membrey, who was promoted after a match-winning six-goal bag against Casey Demons three weeks ago, has in turn lost his St Kilda spot to Cooper Sharman after his back-to-back heroics pinched unlikely results from four goals down against Frankston (win) and Gold Coast (draw) in the past fortnight.

Vice-captain Darby Hipwell and Saints youngster Angus Hastie are also in, but the Zebras have lost Zak Jones and Zaine Cordy to St Kilda and Brad Crouch and Ollie Lowe to injury from the team that drew with the Suns.

The Lions have bolstered their line-up with Darragh Joyce returning from an AFL hold-over week and Ewan Macpherson back from suspension.

Coburg stalwart Mitch Podhajski will make his first appearance of the season as the blue and red Lions aim to continue their strong home form against Southport at Piranha Park on Sunday.

Podhajski hasn’t played this year due to a serious ankle injury but has been rushed straight in alongside ruckman Cooper Keogh, while key defender Harry Nolan and rebounder Ryan Sturgess are back from injury, but in-form onballer Hugo Bromell suffered a knee injury against North Melbourne last week, with no timeline set on his return.

The Sharks have made just one change, calling on forward Byron Finch to replace stalwart Mike Manteit, who will miss three weeks with a knee injury.

Williamstown regains Max Philpot and Noah Gadsby from injury but loses Jack Toner to concussion for its clash with Northern Bullants at DSV Stadium on Sunday

The Bullants have named Essendon league star Christos Kosmas for his debut following 22 goals in eight matches for Keilor in place of Jack Chubb, who hurt his AC joint in the win against Carlton and is expected to miss a further two weeks.

The GWS Giants’ fading finals hopes have been bolstered as a host of players return to action against Port Melbourne at Blacktown International Sports Park on Sunday.

The Giants will welcome back AFL regulars Isaac Cumming (hamstring) and James Peatling, while Jacob Wehr also returns from AFL duty and rookie goalkicker Nathan Wardius plays his first game of the year after overcoming stress fractures in his feet.

Highly-rated Academy ruckman Logan Smith, a 204cm giant still three months away from his 18th birthday, will make his VFL debut while Josaia Delana returns from representing the Allies at the U18 National Championships and former AFL-lister Will Shaw is also in, with Toby McMullin’s promotion being the main exclusion.

The Borough regains Robbie McComb from injury but suffered a triple blow with former VFL Giant Josh Green (shoulder), ex-Carlton player Sam Philp (hamstring tightness) and former Docker Tobe Watson (soreness) to all miss the flight north.

North Melbourne’s No. 3 draft pick Zane Duursma will make another appearance at VFL level when the Kangaroos take on Collingwood at the AIA Centre on Sunday.

Duursma has failed to win his AFL spot back following the bye and a rest and will aim to repeat his four-goal effort against Sydney a few weeks ago in a bolstered VFL team that also includes the returning Miller Bergman and Dylan Stephens, who was a late withdrawal from last week’s win over Coburg.

Brynn Teakle will become the second 2024 mid-season draftee to graduate to the AFL when he makes his Kangaroos debut at Marvel Stadium, while Blake Drury and Ben Davis suffered knee injuries last week, but Bigoa Nyuon has been named despite being out of the Lions game before half-time with a hip-pointer problem.

The Magpies have replaced the promoted Reef McInnes with the demoted Jack Bytel, while Beaconsfield teenager Hayden Brown will make his VFL debut.

All matches in the 2024 Smithy’s VFL and VFLW seasons will be live streamed free via the AFL website, AFL Live Official App and VFL App.

Smithy’s VFL broadcast partner, the Seven Network, will broadcast select matches live and free on the Seven Network in Victoria and on 7plus nationally.
