ADELAIDE key defender Daniel Talia has been cleared to play his first game since knee surgery when the Crows take on Greater Western Sydney in the JLT Community Series in Canberra on Friday night.

The 27-year-old, dual All Australian had an operation on his left knee in early December after an innocuous incident at home.

Talia completed the full session at Football Park on Wednesday to get the all clear to take on the Giants.

"It's a massive boost, he's pretty much the leader back there," Crows defender Rory Laird said.

"For him to come back and get a game under his belt is really important to make sure he can get his game fitness.

"He's been running for ages now, his knee has felt really good, I've spoken to him a fair bit and he's just itching to get back out there."

Midfielder Bryce Gibbs (shoulder) and wingman David Mackay (AC joint) are also available after missing last Saturday's 17-point win against Port Adelaide in Port Pirie with minor injuries.

Forward Riley Knight has pulled up well after injuring his foot against the Power and could also play.

Midfielder Hugh Greenwood will likely play in the Crows' SANFL trial against Norwood on Friday night in his first game back from an abdominal tendon injury.

The only downside for the Crows is a foot injury to lockdown defender Luke Brown that will keep him out of action for the next two months.

"He's had a niggle over the summer and they found out it was something different," Laird said.

"He's frustrated he can't play, but I know the way he goes about his business, very professional and he'll be back as soon as possible.

"We've got plenty of boys playing down there at the moment – Jake Kelly, Wayne (Milera), Brodie (Smith) and I can man the ship for now."

Forward Ben Davis will need to pass a fitness test after having knee soreness, mature-age recruit Shane McAdam (managed) won't play this week and forward Elliott Himmelberg will miss another week with a minor foot injury.
