The AFL wishes to congratulate Geelong's Mitch Duncan ahead of his 300th AFL game this round.

A two-time premiership player with Geelong, Duncan is set to become the 108th player in VFL/AFL history to reach 300 games and the seventh Cats player to do so, behind Tom Hawkins, Joel Selwood, Jimmy Bartel, Corey Enright, Ian Nankervis and John Newman.

Duncan, who made his debut in Round 1, 2010 after being selected with pick No.28 in the 2009 AFL Draft, was presented with AFL Life Membership earlier this year.

The AFL's Historian has compiled a list of key numbers and achievements across Duncan's career:

The 108th person to play 300 career games.

When he debuted in 2010 there were 61 players in the 300 game club.

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Pick No.28 in the 2009 AFL Draft.
  • Debuted in Round 1, 2010, against Essendon, and went on to play eight games in his debut season.
  • The second player from the 2009 AFL Draft, after Dustin Martin, to reach 300 career games. Martin made his debut one day before Duncan.
  • A two-time premiership player (2011 and 2022) and played in the 2020 Grand Final.
  • Duncan was the starting sub in the 2011 Grand Final, the first year that subs were used. Duncan was substituted into the game in the second quarter after James Podsiadly suffered a dislocated shoulder, and he kicked a goal in the third.
  • The youngest member of the 2011 premiership side and the seventh oldest in the 2022 premiership.
  • Two podium finishes in Geelong's Best and Fairest count - second in 2017 behind Patrick Dangerfield, and third in 2014 behind Joel Selwood and Tom Hawkins.
  • Duncan becomes the fourth person to play 300 games in the number 22, joining Tony Shaw, Steele Sidebottom and Todd Goldstein.
  • Duncan has missed 70 games on his way to 300. His longest consecutive game streak was 65 games between 2012 and 2015.
  • He has had a positive record in all 16 seasons, playing in more wins than losses.
  • Played his first eight games under Mark Thompson and the rest under Chris Scott.
  • His 291 games under Chris Scott is the fourth most by any coach/player pairing behind Jock McHale and Gordon Coventry (306), Chris Scott and Tom Hawkins (298) and John Longmire and Luke Parker (293).
  • Chris Scott and Mitch Duncan have celebrated 204 wins together, the second most for any coach/player pairing behind Jock McHale and Gordon Coventry (220).
  • At 15 years and 57 days, he will be the 75th quickest of the 108 players to 300 games.
  • The 74th player to reach 300 games as a one-club player.
  • The seventh player to play 300 games for Geelong, joining John Newman, Ian Nankervis, Corey Enright, Jimmy Bartel, Joel Selwood and Tom Hawkins.
  • In the 2017 semi-final against the Sydney Swans, Duncan became the first Geelong player to have recorded at least 35 disposals and two goals in a final.
  • He has been inside the Top 8 for 236 of his 299 career games to date. Only nine games sitting 12th or lower on the ladder.
  • One of 1,584 people to have played at least 10 H&A games against the side sitting on top of the ladder.  He is the only one in the group who did not lose any of those first 10 matches (nine wins and a draw).
  • His record against sides sitting top of the ladder now stands at 13 wins, four losses and one draw.
  • Has played in 211 wins, the fourth most by any player at the 300-game mark behind Joel Selwood (219), Gordon Coventry (217) and Tom Hawkins (213).
  • Played in a loss in his third career match, marking the only time that his career winning percentage (66.67% at the time) has ever sat below 70%.
  • In 2022, he became the 253rd person to have played in 253 VFL/AFL games.
  • One of 13 Cats players to have played 100 games at Kardinia Park.
