Collingwood VFL coach Andy Otten joins State of Play.

After a challenging 2024 campaign, the Magpies have flown up the Smithy's VFL ladder to sit in fifth place heading into the final month of the home and away season.

Otten joins Joe Pignataro and Gemma Bastiani to discuss his side's season so far ahead of a huge game against seventh-placed Frankston at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night.

He also provides an insight into the juggles of player development vs winning mentality for AFL reserves teams, handling close games on a regular basis in 2025, and the positive influence the club's veterans are having on the next wave of stars coming through the ranks.

During this week's episode of State of Play, Joe and Gemma also discuss:

- A grandstand finish coming up in the rebel VFLW, with a fascinating final home and away round coming up after the competition bye
- The form sides of the Smithy's VFL
- Corey Ellison produces the second largest goal hail of the season
- Games you can't miss in in the Smithy's VFL
