OLLIE Hollands has been withdrawn from Carlton's side to face Fremantle on Saturday night, in the wake of an emotional week that saw his teammate and brother Elijah admitted to hospital.

Hollands had travelled to Perth with teammates but was withdrawn two hours before the first ball-up.

The Dockers have also been forced into a late, late change for the clash with forward Pat Voss withdrawing just minutes before the start of the match due to illness. He will be replaced in the 23 by Jeremy Sharp, who has been in scintillating form in the WAFL.

Elijah Hollands was hospitalised on Monday evening, four days after he had what his club labelled a "mental health episode" during last Thursday night's match against Collingwood.

On Tuesday, Ollie Hollands posted a heartfelt tribute to his brother on Instagram, describing the difficulty of the situation.

"It's incredibly challenging watching your own brother go through something like this but the amount of support that we have received has been overwhelming and as a family we will be forever grateful," he wrote.

"There are no words to describe how grateful we are for all the love and support Elijah and our family have received."

Hollands has been replaced in the side by Matt Cottrell.

Fremantle is flying as it eyes a sixth win of the season when it hosts Carlton at Optus Stadium.

The Dockers (5-1) continue to separate themselves from the chasing pack after backing up a pair of narrow victories over finals contenders Adelaide and Collingwood with a thumping win over bitter rivals West Coast.

Fremantle is still finding a better balance between defence and attack but has conceded the fewest points so far while returning to a home fortress where it has won 13 of its past 16.

Carlton (1-5) has faced another tumultuous week off the field as concerns for young utility Elijah Hollands have overshadowed even a defeat to arch rivals Collingwood coming in all too familiar fashion.

The Blues gave up yet another second-half lead as it was overrun by the Pies, even if they might have snatched victory after the siren, and now face a testing trip to face the in-form Dockers.

Carlton has made three changes, with Liam Reidy, Cooper Lord and Ashton Moir coming in for Elijah Hollands (mental health), Harry McKay (concussion) and Mark Pittonet (hand).

Fremantle goes into the match unchanged.
