The AFL is pleased to announce an expansion to the VFLW’s broadcast coverage for the 2026 season, with Tasmania’s first six VFLW home matches to be broadcast by the Seven Network, in conjunction with Sports Entertainment Group (SEG).

The matches will be broadcast on Seven Tasmania and 7plus Sport nationally, providing greater visibility for players, clubs and fans across Tasmania and beyond.

The announcement builds on the existing broadcast partnership between the AFL, Seven Network and SEG, which sees every Tasmania home match in the Smithy’s VFL also broadcast on Seven Tasmania and 7plus Sport.

All VFLW matches will continue to be streamed live and free on AFL platforms via AFL.com.au and the AFL Live Official App.

The 2026 VFLW season commences on Saturday, May 16. The home and away season will comprise 16 rounds, with all 13 clubs to play 14 matches and have two byes.

AFL Executive General Manager of Finance, Broadcast and Infrastructure, Matthew Chun, said the new broadcast deal was a brilliant result for the VFLW.

“The AFL is delighted to partner with the Seven Network and SEN to showcase the VFLW to a broader audience in 2026,” Chun said.

“We've been thrilled with the increased coverage of the Smithy's VFL this year under our expanded broadcast offering.

“We're delighted to extend this to the VFLW for the upcoming season as part of commitment to providing football fans with high-quality and accessible coverage.

“It’s not just a great result for the Tasmania Football Club, but also supporters of Victorian-based teams who can watch their VFLW team in action when travelling to take on the Devils.”

Seven Network Head of AFL and Sport Innovation, Gary O’Keeffe, said: “Following the recent ratings success of the men’s Tasmania Devils VFL home games on Seven in Tasmania and 7plus Sport nationally, we are ecstatic to add the Club’s VFLW matches to Seven’s football offering.

“Passionate Devils fans in Tasmania won’t be the only ones to watch their women’s side’s home matches, with the six games also broadcast live and free nation-wide on 7plus Sport. We cannot wait to see this team make history.”

SEG Chief Executive, Craig Hutchison, said: “The Tassie Devils have captured the hearts and imagination of all Tasmanian football fans, and the VFLW team promises to do exactly the same through its exciting inaugural year.

“We are thrilled to team up with the Devils and showcase VFLW football across Tasmania and nationally via 7plus Sport, meaning the state’s women and men have the best and most dedicated coverage in Australia.”

Tasmania Football Club CEO, Brendon Gale, said: “This is more than just a broadcast partnership; it is about laying the right foundations. When we talk about building Tasmania's football club, we mean for everyone. These young women deserve to be seen, and every Tasmanian deserves the chance to watch them play.”
