TEAMS: Smithy’s VFL Round 13

The Smithy’s VFL teams for Round 13.

Charlie Ballard, Ethan Read and Ben Jepson feature among the Gold Coast Suns’ inclusions for its round-opening match against the Box Hill Hawks at People First Stadium.

The Suns have made eight changes following a difficult weekend in Geelong which resulted in heavy losses for both its VFL and AFL teams.

James Blanck returns for his first game since Round 8 for the Hawks, with Bodie Ryan also among the four ins.

Frankston has suffered a blow ahead of its Friday night clash with Collingwood at Kinetic Stadium, with Pat Dozzi to be sidelined for the remainder of the year with a shoulder injury. Blake O’Leary will also miss with a rib injury.

Collingwood has included mid-season recruit Harrison Coe to face his former side, while Angus Anderson and Joel Cochran also return.

Southport welcomes back Brayden Crossley for his 100th VFL game when it hosts ladder-leader Geelong at Fankhauser Reserve.

The three-time Smithy's VFL State Team ruckman is joined in the Sharks' line-up by former GWS Giants midfielder Cooper Hamilton, who joined the club this week from Carlton's VFL program, and Rhys King who has returned to Fankhauser Reserve having last played with the club in 2022.

The Cats have included Gryan Miers for his second VFL match of the year, as well as captain Dan Capiron and Keighton Matofai-Forbes for his first game of the year.

Max Gruzewski will miss the GWS Giants’ important match against Carlton at ENGIE Stadium with a hand injury.

The Blues welcome Ollie Hollands and Lucas Camporeale back from injury, while Flynn Young returns having played the past three matches at AFL level.

Williamstown and Casey Demons both take strengthened line-ups into their clash at DSV Stadium.

Braydon Preuss and Lachie Wilson return for the Seagulls, while Aidan Johnson, Bailey Laurie, Frank Johnson Medal winner Riley Bonner and Wardell Lual all come in for the Demons in what shapes as an important battle in this year's finals race.

Coburg has named an unchanged line up to take on Port Melbourne at Barry Plant Park on Sunday, following last week's impressive win over Frankston.

The Borough have welcome news at the selection table with Dom Bedendo, Charlie Clarke, Fraser Rosman and Sam Grant all returning for the top-10 clash.

Tasmania skipper Robbie Fox won't play in the Devils return match against Sandringham at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval.

The Zebras welcome back their only former AFL-listed player, with Kynan Brown set to play his first game since sustaining an injury in the Round 1 loss to Port Melbourne.

St Kilda has named Alix Tauru for its clash with Footscray at RSEA Park as it continues its push for a place in the top 10, however the Saints will be without injured trio Alex Dodson, Ethan Phillips and James Barrat.

Norm Goss medallist Cooper Craig-Peters returns for the reigning premiers, along with Laitham Vandermeer.

Rhyan Mansell makes his return from a long injury layoff when Richmond takes on North Melbourne at ETU Stadium. He's one of three AFL-listed Tigers being brought into the line-up, along with Kane McAuliffe and Oli Hayes-Brown.

Taj Hotton has earned his first AFL call-up of the season, while Joel Garner and Sam Toner will both miss.

The Kangaroos welcome back Riley Hardeman and Darcy Macpherson, while also bringing in Griffin Logue from the AFL team.
