COLLINGWOOD 2.3 3.6 5.7 6.11 (47)
TASMANIA 0.1 1.1 2.1 3.2 (20)
Collingwood’s dream start to the 2026 VFLW campaign continued on Saturday, with a 27-point win over Tasmania at La Trobe University Oval. After recording their maiden victory in the competition last week, the Devils played with real vigour and didn’t concede a goal to the dominant Magpies until the latter stages of the first term. The home side held a 14-point quarter time lead on the back of two late goals, with the buffer only extending by a further three points at the main break. The ladder-leaders would kick three goals to two in the second half to finish as victors but were kept to their second-lowest score of the season thanks to some resolute defending from the Devils. Tahlia Sanger was outstanding with a season-high 31 disposals as well as six intercepts, meanwhile Amelia Peck and Tahlia Fellows each booted two goals for Collingwood. Grace White continued to be a focal point inside forward 50 for Tasmania and kicked one goal from three scoring shots and teammate Ellie Hall had a game-high eight intercepts, while Libby Haines was also important.

WILLIAMSTOWN 0.0 2.3 3.5 5.7 (37)
Williamstown kept pressure on Collingwood at the pointy end of the VFLW ladder by claiming its sixth win of the season with an 18-point triumph over Darebin at Preston City Oval. Neither side was able to hit the scoreboard in the opening term, before the Falcons struck first in the second quarter. However, the Seagulls controlled things from there with the next five scoring shots to take a nine-point lead into the second half. The Falcons continued to press at the times and did get the margin to within a goal twice throughout the final two terms, but Williamstown would have all the answers late in the match and kicked the last two goals of the game. Megan Williamson was a standout for the away side and had 12 tackles, eight of those inside 50, while also kicking a goal, with teammate Bella Smith also impressing in midfield with 16 disposals, six inside 50s and five clearances. Caitlin Bunker was terrific once again for the Falcons and was the only player on the ground to have greater than 20 disposals, finishing with 25 touches, 10 tackles and eight clearances.

NORTH MELBOURNE WERRIBEE 4.4 6.5 8.6 11.8 (74)
ESSENDON 3.0 5.1 6.2 7.2 (44)
North Melbourne Werribee didn’t skip a beat in its return from the bye, proving too strong for Essendon in a high-scoring 30-point victory at Arden Street Oval. The Roos led from start to finish but weren’t really able to break away from the Bombers until late in the match, despite registering the first six scores of the game. In a free-flowing opening quarter, the hosts got out to a 22-point margin before the Bombers kicked consecutive majors to make it a 10-point ball game at the first change. The second quarter was almost identical, with the reigning premiers getting out to a 23-point advantage before it again got cut down to 10 by the half time siren. After a third quarter that saw both sides produce one major apiece, North Melbourne Werribee controlled the final quarter, kicking three of the term’s four goals to secure the win. Zoe Savarirayan led the way inside 50 with three majors for the Roos and Ava Seton had plenty of the footy, finishing with 23 disposals, five clearances and a goal. For the visitors, Ava Jordan (20 disposals, four clearances) and El Chaston (19 disposals, 11 intercepts) were strong contributors.

Scores were level at quarter time before the Zebras threatened to break the game apart in the second term and third quarters to led by 18 points at the final change. The game looked over when Emma Stuber kicked the first goal of the last quarter for the Zebras, however three quick goals from the revitalised hosts made it a six-point ball game with 12 minutes remaining.
