State league affiliate: Adelaide (SANFL)
This weekend: Glenelg v Adelaide at Stratarama Stadium, Sunday July 12, 2.10pm ACST

Reilly O’Brien has kept himself in the frame for a senior recall if required with another strong outing in the SANFL, gathering 20 disposals, 24 hitouts and a goal in Adelaide’s three-point loss to Glenelg on Sunday.

Billy Dowling was among the Crows’ best with 28 disposals, seven marks and two goals, Nick Murray matching him statistically to end the game with 28 touches and seven marks.

Lachie Sholl was busy with 24 disposals and nine marks, Oscar Ryan also had the ball 24 times, Charlie Edwards had 21 touches, seven marks and one goal, and Hugh Bond had 20 disposals.

On return from a hamstring issue, Cal Ah Chee kicked one goal from 11 touches and laid six tackles, a team-high shared with Luke Pedlar (six disposals).

Former Giant Isaac Cumming finished with 18 disposals, seven marks and a goal, Chayce Jones had 17 touches, key defender Jordon Butts took 10 marks in his 16 possessions and Mitch Marsh had the ball 15 times.

Sid Draper kicked one goal among 13 disposals, first year key forward Archie Ludowyke also slotting one from 10 touches, while former North Melbourne big man Finnbar Maley failed to trouble the scorers with his nine disposals.

Rookie Tyler Welsh (eight touches) was the only other senior Crow in action.

YOUNG Brisbane midfielders Dan Annable and Sam Marshall again found plenty of the ball in the Lions' five-goal VFL loss to Essendon on Sunday at Brighton Homes Arena.

Playing his second game of the season, Annable finished with 32 disposals, eight marks, six tackles, six clearances and seven score involvements, while Marshall collected 30 possessions for the third consecutive match.

There was no repeat of Keidean Coleman's three-goal heroics from last week. The Lion was quiet for the first three quarters but finished with 16 touches and 1.2, including a superb long-range finish in the final term.

Athletic forward Will McLachlan looked like he could have a day out early with three scoring shots in the game's opening nine minutes. However, McLachlan's opportunities dried up to finish with 2.3 from 12 disposals.

Tom Doedee also made a successful - albeit relatively quiet - return from injury, with 13 disposals and five intercepts.

Luke Beecken provided plenty of his trademark dash with 18 touches and 10 marks while Shadeau Brain and Reece Torrent each had it 17 times.

Rookie forward Koby Evans kicked a goal to go with his 13 disposals, while Cody Curtin and ruck Henry Smith were also on the goalkickers list.

An unusual name joining them was Darragh Joyce, playing managed minutes as an AFL emergency and replaced in defence by Lions development coach Liam Jones, Joyce drifted forward and kicked just his second goal in 57 VFL games for Brisbane.

Young utility Zane Zakostelsky endured a torrid time, coming off in the opening minutes after a knock to the nose. He then went on to spend time opposed to Essendon forward Liam McMahon, who booted six goals in a dominant display.

It was a good day out for Lachie Fogarty on Sunday, racking up 31 disposals and eight clearances in Carlton’s 23-point win over Box Hill.

Blake Acres was also busy with 26 disposals.

Flynn Young was the Blues’ leading scorer with three goals from 14 touches, while Hudson O’Keefe (nine disposals, 11 hitouts) and Liam Reidy (14, 21, and seven clearances) kicked two goals each while sharing ruck duties.

Zac Williams found the ball 21 times, with fellow veteran Adam Saad collecting 19 disposals.

Jordan Boyd gained plenty of metreage with 21 kicks in his 22 touches.

The Camporeale brothers did their bit, Ben finishing with 22 disposals and five clearances while Lucas had 16 touches.

Former Eagle Campbell Chesser had 15 disposals, Harry Charleson had 19, and Ashton Moir finished with six.

Collingwood recorded a convincing 43-point win over North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Roan Steele was prolific through the midfield, collecting 22 disposals, six marks, five tackles and three clearances, while mid-season pick-up Mitch Podhajski continued his promising early form with two goals from 12 touches and six marks.

Fellow mid-season recruit Harrison Coe won the ruck battle, finishing with 27 hitouts and four marks.

Untried midfielder Tyan Prindable finished with 15 disposals and five tackles, while down back, Jakob Ryan (22 disposals, six marks, four tackles), Joel Cochran (21 disposals, eight marks) and Wil Parker (16 disposals, six marks) led the way.

Zac McCarthy finished with two goals from eight disposals, with Lachie Sullivan (22 disposals, six clearances), Will Hayes (17 disposals), Charlie West (nine, six marks) and Jai Saxena (10) each kicking one goal.

Noah Howes collected 15 disposals.

A bag of six goals from Essendon forward Liam McMahon bolstered his case of a late-season AFL recall in the Bombers' 30-point win over Brisbane on Sunday.

McMahon returned from an ankle injury last week with 4.2 and booted 6.1 on Sunday in a powerful display up forward as the Bombers kicked 103 points and broke away in the second half.

McMahon's bag aside, there were mixed returns inside 50 for Essendon. Hussein El-Achkar laid nine tackles and kicked a goal in a zippy display, Jayden Nguyen was involved in several big collisions en route to kicking 0.2, and the out-of-favour Ben McKay registered just two handballs and five hitouts playing primarily forward after being dropped from the senior side.

Elijah Tsatas again racked up possessions at will, finishing with 24 handballs among his 35 disposals, six clearances and six score involvements.

After being omitted from the AFL team, Will Setterfield was busy with 28 touches, seven clearances and a goal, while Zak Johnson made a successful return from a foot injury with 27 disposals in defence.

Mid-season draftee Jaxon Artemis also returned from injury and had the Sherrin 19 times, while the experienced Jade Gresham was creative in the forward half with 1.2 to go with his 23 disposals.

Matt Guelfi kicked 1.3 from nine touches and may come under scrutiny for a strong tackle on Brisbane's Ethan Duke in the third term. Guelfi won a holding the ball free kick despite the tackle's slinging motion, and fortunately the young Lion emerged unscathed.

State league affiliate: Peel Thunder (WAFL)
This weekend: East Fremantle v Peel Thunder at The Good Grocer Park, Saturday July 11, 2.30pm AWST

Oscar McDonald kicked a bag as Peel Thunder recorded a comfortable 84-point win over East Fremantle on Saturday.

McDonald booted five goals as he finished with 13 disposals and four marks in the convincing victory.

Jeremy Sharp continued his good WAFL form with 24 touches, six marks and two goals.

Bailey Banfield was busy with 28 disposals and 11 marks and Jaren Carr also found plenty of the ball with 27 and nine.

Cooper Simpson (23 disposals and a goal), Hugh Davies (22 and 15 marks) and Toby Whan (22 and a goal) also found plenty of the ball.

With Fremantle enjoying a healthy list, there were plenty of other AFL-listed players in action, with draftee Adam Sweid finishing with 22 disposals, six marks and six tackles.

Josh Draper (19 disposals and nine marks), Tobyn Murray (14 and two goals), Brandon Walker (13) and Chris Scerri (12) were also solid.

It will be music to any Cats fan's ears — Gryan Miers dominated in an 82-point drubbing of Richmond, finishing with 24 disposals, three goals, five score involvements and ten tackles. Most importantly, the Geelong star got through another game unscathed as he continues to rebuild confidence in his body.

Jesse Mellor kicked just one goal in the first half, but five second-half goals cemented a new career-high for the 19-year-old, taking his season tally to 28 goals from 13 games — an encouraging sign for the future of Chris Scott's forward stocks. Also encouraging was Jay Polkinghorne's five-goal, ten-mark, 18-disposal performance, moving his season tally to 20 goals from just six VFL games for the 20-year-old key forward.

Joe Pike continued his stellar VFL season with 19 disposals, 32 hit-outs and seven clearances, and the 21-year-old ruckman also led the team with ten score involvements and five inside-50 entries.

Hunter Holmes made a significant impact with 31 disposals, seven clearances and a goal, with the younger brother of Max registering eight inside-50s and seven score involvements on the back of his highly touted aerobic capacity.

James Worpel dominated at the coalface with 33 disposals and 12 clearances, while seasoned campaigners Jed Bews (21 disposals) and Brad Close (18 disposals) were too good for the Tigers.

Lennox Hofmann chipped in with a goal from 17 disposals, and George Stevens rounded out a strong day for the Cats with 26 touches.

State league affiliate: Gold Coast (VFL)

There was no doubting the best on ground in Gold Coast's 50-point demolition of Tasmania, with emerging midfielder Sam Clohesy finishing with 37 disposals, eight tackles and six clearances.

Versatile swingman Caleb Lewis will also be in the votes after booting four goals, while midfielder Zak Evans contributed 23 disposals and a goal.

With Ned Moyle holding down ruck duties in the senior side, former best and fairest winner Jarrod Witts was dominant with 18 disposals, 50 hit-outs and nine clearances. Twenty-two-year-old Max Knobel added two goals to showcase the Suns' depth at the position.

Caleb Graham took nine marks from 20 disposals as he pushes to add to his 37 AFL games, while medium forward Jake Rogers was quiet with 11 touches and no score. Out-of-favour defender Charlie Ballard also had a subdued afternoon, finishing with 13 possessions and three intercepts.

It wasn't a great result for Box Hill going down by 23 points to Carlton on Sunday, but plenty of senior Hawks were in action.

Finn Maginness was his side's biggest ball winner with 26 disposals, six tackles and five clearances, Flynn Perez close behind with 25 touches.

Max Ramsden put in another strong performance with 23 hitouts, 16 disposals and one goal, and was helped out at the bounces by developing ruckman Jaime Uhr-Henry.

Powerful midfielder Cody Anderson kicked two goals from 20 possessions, Calsher Dear also kicking a couple of majors.

Draftee Cam Nairn didn’t hit the scoreboard but was busy with 20 touches, Bodie Ryan also getting amongst it with 22 disposals.

Key forward Aiden Schubert was off-line with two behinds from 11 disposals, and Matt LeRay had 12 touches.

Christian Salem got through managed minutes in the first half of Casey’s 43-point loss to Coburg on Sunday, kicking one goal from seven disposals in his first game since sustaining a foot injury back in April.

Luker Kentfield kicked two goals from 13 touches as well as laying seven tackles, small forward Tom Matthews (nine disposals, six tackles) also slotting two goals.

Rookie Riley Onley also added pressure with seven tackles of his own to go with 21 disposals and one goal.

Lucas Cooke was busy with 23 touches, fellow mid-season draftee Max Mapley had 13 along with 16 hitouts and one goal, and pre-season SSP pickup Paddy Cross also slotted a major score from his 13 disposals.

Ricky Mentha had his chances to hit the scoreboard but finished with three behinds from 20 touches, while Jack Henderson kicked one goal from 16 disposals and six tackles.

Oscar Berry also had 16 touches, Xavier Taylor had 18, Jed Adams took seven marks to go with 10 disposals, veteran Tom McDonald had the ball eight times and Kalani White finished with five touches.

Bailey Scott had the ball on a string but it wasn't enough to get his side over the line, with North Melbourne going down to Collingwood by 43 points on Friday afternoon.

Scott racked up 42 disposals, five marks and six clearances to be one of the most influential players on the ground, while Oliver Griffin kicked a team-high three goals from 12 disposals.

Out of favour forward Zane Duursma came to life late with two goals in 90 seconds in the closing stages of the game, adding to his 15 disposals and four marks. 

Taylor Goad battled hard in the ruck with 17 hitouts, six clearances and 13 disposals, Robert Hansen jnr impressed with 27 disposals and six marks, while Hugo Mikunda (18 disposals) and Brayden George (15 disposals, six marks) were busy.

Callum Coleman-Jones (13 disposals, six marks, eight hitouts) and River Stevens (18 disposals, one goal) each contributed a goal.

Other AFL-listed Roos in action included Zac Fisher (14 disposals, four marks), Griffin Logue (15 disposals), Wil Dawson (nine) and Lachy Dovaston (13).

This weekend: North Adelaide v Port Adelaide at Revo Fitness Oval, Sunday July 12, 2.20pm ACST

Jack Watkins led the way for Port Adelaide in its heavy defeat to North Adelaide on Sunday, picking up 25 disposals.

The midfielder also had eight clearances in an impressive display, while Will Lorenz also had 25 disposals for Port.

Tom Anastasopoulos (one goal from nine disposals) and Xavier Walsh (one goal from four disposals) were the only AFL-listed players to get on the scoreboard, while Brandon Zerk-Thatcher was solid in defence with 15 disposals and seven marks.

Will Brodie was also busy around the ball with 16 disposals and seven clearances, while Christian Moreas had 18 disposals and three clearances.

Alex Van Wyk had a big day in the ruck with 36 hit-outs and 14 disposals, while Benny Barrrett (13 disposals) and Harrison Ramm (nine disposals, two marks)

Tyler Sonsie produced a prolific performance as Richmond was thrashed by Geelong by 82 points on Saturday.

Sonsie finished with 32 disposals and 10 clearances in a superb performance in the middle.

Samson Ryan (12 disposals and 41 hitouts) had a big battle in the ruck with Joe Pike.

Liam Fawcett was the best of the Tigers' forwards, kicking three goals from six disposals.

Tom Burton gathered 16 disposals and kicked a goal, while Judson Clarke (13 disposals) and Harry Armstrong (four and a goal) continued their returns from injury.

Plenty of senior-listed Saints put on strong showings in the VFL side’s heartbreaking last-minute one-point loss to Werribee.

Veteran mid Jack Macrae was busy with 26 disposals and three clearances, but it was untried forward Patrick Said who made onlookers sit up and pay attention with four goals and 10 tackles.

Hunter Clark racked up a game-high 32 touches and took nine marks, while Alex Dodson dominated in the ruck with 43 hitouts and five clearances to go with 20 disposals.

Half-back Jack Carroll found plenty of the footy with 24 touches and 11 marks, while small forward Dan Butler didn’t register a goal but was busy with three clearances, seven tackles and 13 disposals.

Out-of-favour midfielder Hugh Boxshall had 15 touches, nine tackles and three clearances, while Lance Collard continued his good form off half-back with 23 disposals.

Versatile tall Isaac Keeler kicked 1.2 while also rotating through the ruck and laying five tackles, while veteran defender Dougal Howard took seven marks and had 15 disposals

First-year duo Kye Fincher and Charlie Banfield had 23 disposals and seven marks, and 21 and six respectively.

Paddy Dow won plenty of the footy with 24 touches and five clearances, while untried Irishman Eamonn Armstrong had 17 and two.

It was a strange day in Blacktown as the Swans and the Seagulls played out a draw, but a promising sign was the development of Jevan Phillipou, who finished with 23 disposals, ten marks and a goal.

Riley Bice showed his class at the level with 31 disposals at 87 per cent efficiency and 13 intercepts, while inside bull Braeden Campbell kicked two goals from 21 disposals and four scoring shots.

Chad's younger brother, Corey Warner, was unable to convert his two shots on goal but collected 18 possessions, while young key backman Patrick Snell took 13 marks alongside the experienced Lewis Melican (seven marks) in defence.

Twenty-year-old ruckman William Green recorded 18 hit-outs and four clearances, while 2025 mature-age selection Billy Cootee had 18 touches and a goal as he pushes to break back into the senior side. Malcolm Rosas also chipped in with a goal from 14 touches.

This weekend: West Coast v Perth at Mineral Resources Park, Sunday July 12, 1.10pm AWST

After turning down interest from interstate to sign a four-year extension at West Coast this week, Elijah Hewett put in a strong performance in the Eagles’ 62-point WAFL loss to Boorloo on Sunday, gathering 29 disposals.

Former Crow Harry Schoenberg also went big with 33 disposals and six marks, while Luca Grego had 26 touches.

Fin Macrae went hard with a game-high eight tackles and 22 disposals, Tom Gross had plenty of the ball with 23 touches and Fred Rodriguez had 21.

Forward Matt Owies (nine disposals) kicked two goals.

Big man Matt Flynn carried the ruckwork for West Coast with 31 hitouts and 10 disposals.

Tyrell Dewar got amongst the action with 17 touches, Clay Hall finished with 16, with Tylah Turner (four disposals) the only other senior listed player in action.

Adam Treloar was exceptional in Footscray’s 13-point VFL loss to Frankston, with the veteran racking up 37 disposals and six clearances.

Riley Garcia also put his hand up for his first game of 2026 with 31 touches and six clearances, while Lachie Jaques was busy but inaccurate in front of goal with 26 and 0.2.

Lachie McNeil and Louis Emmett both hit the scoreboard with a goal apiece, while Will Darcy kicked 0.1 from 12.

Lachie Smith and Caleb May split the rucking duties with 27 and 25 hitouts respectively, while Lachie Carmichael had 21 disposals and took six marks in defence.

Harvey Gallagher had nine touches and two clearances.
