NINE in 10 Essendon supporters want the Bombers to trade former skipper Zach Merrett at the end of the season, while the same majority are happy to see established players Jordan Ridley and Darcy Parish also leave the club for the right price.

Hawthorn fans are also keen to have another crack at Merrett, with a majority of Hawks fans picking the three-time All-Australian as the club's No.1 trade target, ahead of Bailey Humphrey and Ben King.

These are just some of the findings of AFL.com.au's Fan Trade Pulse, where you can have your say on what you want your club to prioritise this off-season.

The survey, which is still open, has had more than 6000 responses so far and 89 per cent of Bombers supporters say their club should trade Merrett at the end of the season.

Somewhat surprisingly, fans are split as to whether the club was right to hold Merrett to his contract last season; when asked to rate that decision out of 10 in hindsight, the average response was 5.7 out of 10, with 17 per cent of fans rating it 10 out of 10, and 15 per cent rating it 1 out of 10.

Hawthorn is set to be active in the upcoming trade period and 41 per cent of Hawks fans selected Merrett as their No.1 trade target, with Gold Coast young gun Humphrey getting 33 per cent and Suns free agent King getting 26 per cent.

In addition to Merrett, Bombers fans are happy to see Parish depart, despite also being in contract. More than 93 per cent of Bombers fans said the club should consider trading Parish, while 92 per cent said Ridley should be traded, but only if the price is right.

A majority (67 per cent) said young midfielder Elijah Tsatas should also be on the trade table, for the right price.
