STAR Brisbane forward Logan Morris expects to be on a shorter leash against Gold Coast on Saturday following his match-winning seven-goal outing earlier this season.
Morris won his first Marcus Ashcroft Medal for best afield when the teams met at People First Stadium in round 13, kicking 7.4 from 17 disposals in a career-best performance.
He tore Mac Andrew apart before Sam Collins and Bodhi Uwland both spent time on him during a match that proved to be defining for both teams – Brisbane snapping a three-game losing streak while the Suns were then just two games into a 10-match drought.
Speaking on Thursday morning, Morris said he was preparing for a tight Gold Coast defence.
"They've got good defenders down there, Mac and Sam Collins, so I expect one of them to come to me," he said.
"They probably don't want to let me off the chain again this time round, so I expect them to be playing on me a bit tighter this week.
"I'm looking forward to the challenge."
Collins was a late withdrawal from Gold Coast's win over Greater Western Sydney on Sunday, failing to recover from a rib injury he suffered the previous week.
The Suns vice-captain is again a test to play this week.
"They've played on me a few more times, so they're probably trying to scout me different ways," Morris said.
"Each week I get a good defender, so I'm just trying to take it week by week, look at vision on different defenders and the ways that I can beat them.
"So I'll look at the defenders this weekend and hopefully can beat them on Saturday night."
Morris is having a stellar third season, kicking 51 goals to date to follow on from the 53 he kicked last year.
For the first time since acquiring Oscar Allen in the off-season, the Lions played him, Morris and Eric Hipwood in the same forward line during last Friday night's win over Hawthorn.
Coach Chris Fagan said he liked the look of the trio, alongside ruck pair Sam Draper and Darcy Fort, and would continue with the setup.
"It was a bit of a different look playing with three talls, but I think it definitely helped my game being able to play not as big," Morris said.
"I think we all complemented each other playing three talls because we've obviously got a lot of players down there that can play tall as well.
"We had a good mix on the weekend, and hopefully we play the same this week."
