FINALS are getting brutal across the country, as more teams have been knocked out, and a host of AFLW players featured through the VFLW.

Draft hopefuls Stella ScottPolly Turner, and Addison West all got busy for their respective sides, and Brooke Walker made a successful return from an ACL injury.

SANFLW

Woodville-West Torrens 9.8 (62) def. Norwood 7.5 (47)

Woodville-West Torrens has progressed directly to the SANFLW Grand Final with a win over Norwood on Sunday. It gives the Eagles a chance to atone for last year's loss in the decider.

Draft prospects Julia Faulkner (26 disposals, one goal, six tackles) and Lucy Moore (23 disposals, 10 clearances, one goal) were instrumental in the win, as were forwards Klaudia O'Neill and Ruby Matthews who each kicked two goals. A 2027 draft prospect, Maia Freemantle (21 disposals, seven clearances) also had her say in proceedings.

Bottom-ager Lani Cocks was among Norwood's best, finishing with 18 disposals, and seven tackles, and 2010-born Mia Wood recorded 18 disposals and six marks. Wood won't be draft eligible until 2028.

North Adelaide 9.6 (60) def. Sturt 3.5 (23)

In North Adelaide's big win over Sturt, progressing it through to a preliminary final and knocking the latter out of the finals race, father-daughter prospect Polly Turner kicked two goals from 19 disposals in a strong showing.

Aprille Crooks was also immense for the Roosters, finishing with 20 disposals and a goal, and former West Coast and Adelaide defender Amber Ward slammed home four goals.

On a tough day for Sturt, 2027 draft prospect Madeline Nuss hit the scoreboard.

QAFLW

Bond University 6.10 (46) def. Aspley 1.2 (8)

Not even 44 disposals from former Brisbane and Gold Coast midfielder Ella Smith could help Aspley progress to the next round of finals, as the side was well beaten by Bond University.

Evy Reeves dominated for the Bullsharks, with 33 disposals, eight tackles, and six inside 50s, as six separate players did damage on the scoreboard.

Bond University will now prepare to face Morningside in next week's semi-final.

Morningside 11.11 (77) def. Wilston Grange 3.2 (20)

Lions Academy product Stella Scott starred in Morningside's big win on Saturday. Scott recorded 27 disposals, seven inside 50s, and a goal, while her Academy teammate Zoe Petrides was also impactful with 25 disposals, seven inside 50s, and a goal.

Tshinta Kendall kicked two goals for Wilston Grange in what was ultimately its last game of the 2026 season.

WAFLW

Claremont 5.8 (38) def. by East Fremantle 7.2 (44)

East Fremantle has won its way through to the WAFLW Grand Final thanks to a sharpshooting performance that bested reigning premier Claremont on Sunday.

Tiani Teakle – sister of Port Adelaide's Julia – kicked two goals from seven touches to lead the forward line, while former Fremantle midfielder Jae Flynn (22 disposals, one goal) and former West Coast defender Mackenzie Webb (21 disposals, seven marks) played important roles. The ruck pairing of Zoe Keley and Brooke Repacholi also combined for a dominant 60 disposals and 10 tackles.

Young guns India Bonadeo (22 disposals, four inside 50s) and Hannah Seaborn (12 disposals, one goal) – eligible for the 2026 and 2027 Telstra AFLW drafts respectively – worked hard for Claremont, as did ball-magnet Hayley Bullas (36 disposals, 10 tackles), but unfortunately their season is now over.

The Sharks will take on Swan Districts in the WAFLW Grand Final on Sunday, August 23.

VFLW

Williamstown 9.4 (58) def. North Melbourne Werribee 3.3 (21)

Williamstown pulled off a coup, with a big win over two-time reigning premier North Melbourne Werribee, putting it in the box seat for the minor premiership with two rounds to play.

Draft prospects Addison West (23 disposals, six clearances) and Kiara Boyd (11 disposals, nine intercepts) were important in their VFLW debut – both part of the Western Jets program – and four different Gulls kicked two majors each.

A quartet of AFLW players featured in the Roos’ loss. Maddison Torpey kicked a goal from her 12 disposals, while also recording 18 hitouts, Sarah Wall had 13 disposals and laid seven tackles, Abby Favell was quiet with seven touches, and Kristie-Lee Weston-Turner finished with eight disposals and four intercepts.

Box Hill 12.6 (78) def. Casey 2.5 (17)

Things clicked in earnest for Box Hill for the first time this season, helped along by some non-selected AFLW players. Najwa Allen kicked a goal from 12 disposals, replacement signing Mikaylah Antony landed two majors alongside her 11 disposals and eight tackles, and Jess Vukic had 12 hitouts.

Casey also had a quartet of AFLW players featuring. Replacement signing Tahlia Fellows (six disposals, four tackles), Laela Ebert (13 disposals, four intercepts), Amelia Dethridge (eight disposals), and Alyssia Pisano (six disposals, one goal) played in the loss.

Essendon 7.7 (49) def. Sandringham 5.6 (36)

Brooke Walker (19 disposals, five tackles) made a successful return from an ACL injury via Essendon's VFLW side, and now eyes off a return to the top level. Sophie Strong kicked a goal from 17 disposals, replacement signing Madison Ibrahim finished with 14 touches and six marks, and Irishwoman Emma Dineen had 10 touches in the Bombers' win over Sandringham.

Inactive leader Bess Keaney also played as she returns to full fitness after giving birth last year, and finished with seven intercepts and 14 disposals.

St Kilda draftees Maya Louvel-Finn (19 disposals, seven intercepts) and Chelsea Sutton (10 disposals) played in Sandringham's loss, as did Kyla Forbes (20 disposals, six marks), and Emmelie Fiedler (five disposals, 11 hitouts).

Port Melbourne 5.5 (35) def. by Collingwood 6.1 (37)

Collingwood held off Port Melbourne for a narrow win on Saturday, helped along by an accurate day in front of the big sticks.

Irishwoman Ellie Brady (nine disposals), small forward Georgia Knight (one goal), and Olivia Lewis (10 disposals, one goal) all featured for the Pies, while former Richmond forward Amelia Peck kicked three majors as stand-in captain.

Mia Caffry (32 disposals, 12 clearances) did all she could to push Port Melbourne to the win, and Paris Gebel-Lamb kicked two of the side's five goals.

Geelong 8.12 (60) def. Tasmania 3.0 (18)

Geelong landed a big win over an increasingly stretched Tasmanian side, helped along by the influence of a host of AFLW players.

Kate Surman struggled to convert her chances, but recorded 22 disposals and eight tackles, while Jasmin Stewart (19 disposals, one goal, six tackles) and Sienna Tallariti (18 disposals, one goal) each kicked majors.

Replacement signing Annie Lee finished with 16 disposals and six tackles, draftee Renee Morgan got busy defensively with 11 tackles, and ruck Caitie Tipping had 18 hitouts.

Former North Melbourne midfielder Perri King had a team-high 22 disposals for Tasmania, while Ava Read kicked two goals.

Carlton 7.5 (47) def. Western Bulldogs 5.4 (34)

Carlton's surge up the ladder continued, with a strong win over the Western Bulldogs.

Without an AFLW game over the weekend due to the season-opener the week prior, the Blues opted to play eight senior players in the match.

Gab Pound (11 disposals, five intercepts), Lily Baxter (17 disposals, seven intercepts), and Kiara Bischa (nine disposals, five intercepts) worked well to win the footy back, while Aisling Reidy (12 disposals, one goal) and Brooke Boileau (20 disposals, one goal, nine tackles) hit the scoreboard.

Brooke Vickers had just the nine disposals, and Lou-Lou Field the 14, and Tara Bohanna finished with 13 disposals and seven hitouts.

The Bulldogs also played a host of non-selected AFLW names, including young midfielder Brooke Barwick (seven disposals, five tackles), experienced utility Lou Stephenson (13 disposals, five tackles), and draftee Mizuki Brothwell (12 disposals, six intercepts).

Ruck Keeley Hardingham finished with 15 hitouts and 19 disposals, while Ellie Gavalas got busy with 26 disposals. After an outstanding showing last week, Analea McKee was quieter, touching the footy just seven times, while veteran defender Lauren Ahrens had 20 disposals and eight intercepts.
