CHARLIE Curnow has joined some of the modern-day greats of the game by claiming the Coleman Medal for a third time after another commanding home and away campaign.
The Sydney spearhead entered the final round of the season with an eight-goal advantage and finished the year as the AFL's leading goalkicker on 69 after booting another three majors against North Melbourne on Sunday afternoon.
This year's Coleman adds to the medals he won with Carlton in 2022 and 2023 and places him in rare company alongside the likes of Jason Dunstall, Gary Ablett snr, Matthew Lloyd and Jack Riewoldt as three-time winners.
It is also the first time a player has won the Coleman in his first season at a new club since Lance Franklin with the Swans in 2014.
Only eight players in VFL/AFL history have won more Coleman Medals than Curnow: Dick Lee (7), Gordon Coventry (6), John Coleman (5), Fred Fanning, Doug Wade, Peter Hudson, Tony Lockett and Franklin (all 4).
Brisbane young gun Logan Morris finished second with 63 goals after slamming through eight majors against Collingwood on Friday night, while Gold Coast's Ben King (60), Hawthorn's Jack Gunston (59) and Fremantle's Jye Amiss (58) rounded out the top five.
Curnow's success caps a brilliant maiden season in red and white following his off-season move from Carlton.
The 29-year-old's biggest haul for the season came in round 12 against Richmond when he booted eight goals, while he also added 13 goals against the Western Bulldogs across two games this year.
