RICHMOND spearhead Tom Lynch will play on into a 17th AFL season after signing a one-year extension.

The dual premiership winner celebrated his 250th match against St Kilda last weekend and has booted 505 goals across his career.

Lynch, 33, has struggled for form in recent weeks but remains a key cog in Richmond's inexperienced forward line.

"Tom is a great leader for us both on and off the field, and we are pleased that he will be continuing on in 2027," football talent boss Blair Hartley said.

"We are a better team with Tom in it, and he sets great standards and will continue to play an important role in the development of the young talls in our forward line.

"To play into a 17th season at the highest level is an incredible achievement and a credit to him."

Lynch played 131 games for Gold Coast before crossing to the Tigers ahead of the 2019 season.

Coach Adem Yze has spoken often about Lynch's importance to the team, given the Tigers' youthful forward stocks with the likes of Harry Armstrong, Jonty Faull and Tom Sims working underneath the veteran.

Richmond also announced on Friday two-year extensions for former No.1 pick Sam Lalor and Armstrong until at least the end of the 2029 season.
