NORTH Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson says players should take the advice of AFLW trailblazer Daisy Pearce in the wake of the Sydney scandal: be a good human.

The Swans are a club in turmoil after five players, including stars Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner and Nick Blakey, were banned for the rest of the season for the events that occurred in a Melbourne hotel room in the early hours of Monday morning.

Earlier this week Pearce threw her support behind Sydney's decision to suspend the players, and expressed disappointment about what had happened.

She urged AFL players and men in general to "be a good human" by showing respect to women.

Clarkson said he couldn't have summed it up any better.

"Daisy Pearce has just covered it beautifully: be a good human," Clarkson told reporters on Friday.

"That's whether it's in the footy industry, whether it's in your family, whether it's in the workforce.

"She just covered it really, really well, and it taught me a lesson in a sense ... (because) it's the best way to approach this.

"It just covers off so many different areas. The choices that you make ... should be linked really strongly to your core values."

Clarkson said Kangaroos chief executive Jennifer Watt spoke to the player group on Thursday morning to re-iterate Pearce's message in the wake of the Swans saga.

And the veteran coach said he had been left with a "heavy heart" hearing about what had happened.

"The ripple effect for the whole industry and communities and societies - it's tough," Clarkson said.

"But that's why I just keep referring back to Daisy. How is the best way to respond to any of this? It's be the best human you possibly can be."

Second-placed Sydney (17-5) will start as slight underdogs against 14th-placed North Melbourne (9-13) on Sunday after losing Warner, Blakey, Heeney, Riley Bice and James Jordon.

Before the banning of the players, Sydney was red-hot favourite to post another win on home soil.

But Clarkson is still wary of the threat the Swans pose, saying their elite system will allow other players to slot in easily.
