WEST Coast star Harley Reid has been hit with a two-game ban for his dangerous tackle on Hawthorn midfielder Jai Newcombe.

Reid slung Newcombe into the ground during the Eagles' loss to the Hawks at Optus Stadium on Sunday.

Early in the final quarter, Reid grabbed Newcombe by the back of his jumper, slinging him into the ground and seeing the Hawk hit his head.

The Match Review Officer has charged Reid with rough conduct, grading the incident as careless conduct, high impact and high contact, leading to the two-game suspension.

Reid is now facing a delayed start to the 2027 season, given the Eagles' campaign is over.

In a separate blow, the Eagles are also facing a $20,000 fine after a fifth offence for umpire contact.

Brandon Starcevich was cited for making careless contact with an umpire in the loss to the Hawks.

The Eagles are the fifth club to reach at least five offences, joining Essendon (seven), Gold Coast (six), the Western Bulldogs (six) and Fremantle (five).

Newcombe was also cited, marking the Hawks' fourth offence, while Eagle Bo Allan and Sydney veteran Dane Rampe were fined for incidents on Sunday.
