SANDRINGHAM has raised the alarm with the AFL about Gippsland having an extra player on the ground during their thrilling Talent League preliminary final over the weekend.

The Power won the clash at Mars Stadium in Ballarat on Sunday by two points, denying the Dragons a fifth straight Grand Final appearance.

But AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey is reporting the Dragons have contacted the League after Gippsland had a 19th player on the field during the clash.

Twomey is reporting the Power player ran on, kicked a goal and then ran off during the second quarter.

The AFL Talent team is looking into the incident, but there has been no protest from the Dragons or overturning of the result expected.

Leo Stephenson kicked what proved to be the winning goal for Gippsland with two minutes remaining in a thrilling clash.

Gippsland is set to take on the Dandenong Stingrays in the Grand Final at Mission Whitten Oval on Saturday.
