COLLINGWOOD vice-captain Brayden Maynard has undergone a shoulder reconstruction after a banged up second half of 2026. 

Maynard didn't play after injuring his knee against Adelaide at Adelaide Oval in round 20.

The 29-year-old underwent a procedure to get back in time for September but then suffered an MCL strain ahead of the wildcard final loss to the Western Bulldogs. 

Before that, Maynard dislocated his shoulder against Melbourne on King's Birthday and missed two games after the bye, then returned for another four games before the knee injury.

Maynard had barely missed a game since making his debut halfway through his maiden season in 2015 and has played the second most games from the 2014 draft class behind only Harris Andrews. 

The Magpies don't expect Maynard to return to full training until early in the new year. 

Maynard will follow a modified program this side of Christmas.

Noah Howes has also undergone shoulder surgery after making his debut in round 21 and playing two games late in the season.

Veteran forward Jamie Elliott has started running this week for the first time since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against West Coast in the dying minutes of Scott Pendlebury's record-breaking game in May.

Ruckman Oscar Steene injured his knee the previous week against Sydney at the SCG and has also commenced running this week. 

Both face modified pre-seasons at the KGM Centre this summer and will aim to return in the early months of the 2027 season.
