ADELAIDE defender Max Michalanney will miss the opening round of the 2027 season after failing to overturn his one-match ban at the AFL Tribunal.

Michalanney was suspended for striking Brisbane forward Charlie Cameron in the first quarter of his side's semi-final loss at the Gabba on Saturday night.

The incident was graded as intentional conduct, medium impact and body contact.

The Crows argued at the Tribunal that the action was a push rather than a strike, and any offence should be graded as low impact instead of medium, but failed in their bid to overturn the ban.

"It is an unfortunate result as we believed we presented a strong argument to the Tribunal," Adelaide executive general manager of football Adam Kelly said.

Michalanney played 25 games for the Crows this year as they made a semi-final exit.
