BODHI Uwland has won his first Gold Coast best and fairest, winning a thrilling count on Saturday night.

Uwland capped a career-best year by taking out the club's highest individual honour with 57 votes, beating vice-captain Sam Collins (54). Mac Andrew (50) made it a defender's trifecta.

The 23-year-old is the first Gold Coast Academy graduate to win the Suns Club Champion award, completing a remarkable rise after he was pre-selected as a rookie ahead of 2022 and missed his first year with a fractured back.

Now in his fifth season, Uwland played all 23 matches and made his move with a maximum 15 votes during a three-week stretch in the middle of the year.

The rugged defender was named in the All-Australian squad of 44 earlier in the year.

Two-time winner Collins got on the podium for a fourth time after another excellent season anchoring Gold Coast's defence.

Like Collins, Andrew was among the top five in the AFL for intercept marks, getting on the podium for the first time.

Second-year player Leo Lombard (45) and midfield aces Touk Miller and Noah Anderson (both 40) rounded out the top five.

Uwland's victory wasn't his only time on stage for the night, claiming both the David Swallow (Players' player) and Jarrod Harbrow Community Awards.

Matt Rowell was named the Suns' most professional player during a season that saw him battle both wrist and ankle injuries.
