THE FIVE Sydney players who were banned for breaching club standards after the Swans' round 23 win over Essendon will not attend the club's best and fairest award.
Isaac Heeney, Nick Blakey, Chad Warner, James Jordon and Riley Bice will be eligible to win the Bob Skilton Medal at the club's awards night on Saturday, October 1 but the five players have asked not to attend the function.
Last month, the Swans suspended the five players for breaching club standards following an alleged incident at a Melbourne hotel that sparked an ongoing police investigation.
They missed Sydney's win over North Melbourne at the SCG in round 24, as well as the two SCG finals - a qualifying final win over Brisbane and the preliminary final loss to Fremantle.
The five players were deemed ineligible for All-Australian selection, but were able to win the Brownlow Medal. Heeney led the Swans' count with 26 votes to finish equal eighth.
All five players returned to the club for the first time this week for their end-of-season exit meetings, and to speak to their teammates and club staff.
In a statement released on Friday, the Swans said: "Eligibility and voting criteria for the Bob Skilton Medal remains unchanged from previous years. All players who represented the club in season 2026 will be eligible.
"However, we can confirm Nick Blakey, Riley Bice, Isaac Heeney, James Jordon and Chad Warner have requested not to attend the awards night, and this has been agreed to by the club."
