WEST Coast is "absolutely in the mix" for Melbourne veteran Jack Viney who was told by the Demons to explore his options this trade period. 

AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey believes the Eagles "really impressed" Viney during discussions last week as he weighs up his future.

"Viney met with both West Coast and Essendon last week having been told by the Demons he can explore his options with two years left to go on his contract," Twomey told Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio. 

"My understanding is West Coast really impressed in that meeting and has given him something really strong to think about. It was an impressive pitch and impressive way to go about it," he said.

Viney has links to Eagles coach Andrew McQualter from his time at the Demons, while Eagles midfield coach Sam Radford was also a former Demon assistant. 

"I think it went really well and they’re absolutely in the mix now for Jack Viney’s considerations as he weighs up his future," Twomey said.
