GEELONG forward Gryan Miers is "unlikely" to be playing for West Coast next year.

The 27-year-old Cat underwent a medical with the Eagles on Friday, but it is now expected he will remain at GMHBA Stadium in 2027.

"I think it's unlikely that Gryan makes a move west. We're still open to it, but it's just more about where Geelong are," West Coast Eagles list manager Matt Clarke told AFL.com.au on Monday.

"Management were great to deal with and Geelong were aware (of the medical). Gryan was heading overseas so if anything was going to move in the next week and a half, then we needed to have something like that.

"I haven't had a formal conversation with the Cats as yet on Gryan."

But could Miers' mind be swayed?

"You'd have to ask him that. I don't think so, I think he's a pretty loyal guy and they're playing some pretty good footy down at the Cats," Clarke said.

"He's pretty committed there. We'll do our best, but obviously there's a tipping point for how far we'll go."

Clarke confirmed the Eagles could look to add to their half-forward stocks throughout the trade period, even if Miers remains at Geelong.

"There's a few that we've been looking at. It is an area of need for us ... adding to that mix is important for us."

Geelong's executive general manager of football Andrew Mackie also believes Miers will remain at the Cattery in 2027 and beyond.

"He's of interest every year, which is a credit to him. He's obviously one of those unique players in the game with forward half connection. When he's at his best, he's very talented,” Mackie told AFL.com.au.

"Players do their work these days. He's a much-loved player from our end, he loves the club. We're pretty pragmatic and open generally about how we think about most things and if Gryan was to sit there and say the best thing for his footy was maybe moving on, we'd be up for a chat with him about that. But that hasn't happened, so it's in the hypothetical bucket right now.

"(West Coast has) reached out about their interest ... but there hasn't been much discussion from our end. Recently we sat down with Gryan and had a good chat about everything. He was feeling really good about us and we were feeling good about him."

The Eagles are also in the mix for Melbourne veteran Jack Viney and Demons defender Trent Rivers, but Clarke said they are unlikely to trade pick No.3.

Ruck Matthew Flynn will also sign an extension with the club for 2027.
