CAL WILKIE has enhanced his status as one of St Kilda's best modern key defenders by collecting his second Trevor Barker Award at Monday night’s best and fairest count at Crown Palladium.
The 30-year-old became just the 15th player in the club’s history to win multiple best and fairest awards, joining co-captain Jack Sinclair with a second Trevor Barker on his resume in his first season in the role.
Wilkie became a two-time All-Australian in August after another brilliant season down back for the Saints on the same night he won the inaugural AFL Coaches Association Defensive Player of the Year, which was voted by the coaches for the player who had the greatest defensive impact in 2026.
The South Australian has played 178 consecutive games since St Kilda plucked him out of the SANFL and put him on the rookie list at the end of 2018.
Wilkie polled 255 votes on Monday night to narrowly beat recruit Jack Silvagni (250 votes) and emerging star Max Hall (241 votes) in a thrilling count.
Silvagni formed a strong partnership with Wilkie down back after moving from Carlton as a free agent this time last year.
The 28-year-old produced the best season of his career, overcoming shoulder dislocations to play every game to claim the Team Trademark Award.
Hall finished on the podium for the first time after backing up a breakout 2025 campaign with an even better season on the back of more midfield minutes.
The 24-year-old was also recognised by the AFL Coaches Association after the home and away season by sharing the best emerging player award with Fremantle star Murphy Reid.
Last year’s winner Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera finished fourth after missing six games due to injuries midway and at the end of the home and away season.
Hugo Garcia rounded out the top five after a breakout campaign that was rewarded with the John Beveridge Best Emerging Player Award.
St Kilda also inducted four modern-day greats at Monday night’s best and fairest, combining the Trevor Barker Award with the Hall of Fame for the first time.
Champion forward Nick Riewoldt, dual Coleman Medal winner Fraser Gehrig, four-time Trevor Barker Award winner Jack Steven and dual All-Australian Brendon Goddard were all inducted into the Saints’ hall of fame.
