ROWAN Marshall has been granted his trade wish on Thursday morning, landing at Geelong.

St Kilda has agreed to trade the contracted ruckman to Kardinia Park in exchange for pick No.14.

The Cats have received a 2028 third-round pick back in exchange.

Marshall requested a move for the second straight off-season and escalated the situation earlier this week by not attending Monday's Trevor Barker Award.

St Kilda had been asking for a player to be attached to the trade, which Geelong did not want to do.

But after negotiating on Thursday morning, the Saints struck a deal with the Cats. AFL.com.au has reported he has signed a three-year deal.

Geelong has now secured Marshall, Jordan Ridley and Toby Greene across the free agency and the trade period.

Marshall played 177 games for St Kilda after initially being a rookie pick from North Ballarat at the age of 21.

After a decade at the Saints, Marshall will now head down the highway to continue his career.

"I have loved my time at the Saints and always wanted to leave the club in a better place through my contributions on the field," Marshall said.

"The club’s passionate supporters have shown me so much love and support over the past decade, which always made me determined to make them proud.

"There are so many coaches, teammates and staff, both past and present, that have provided great support and friendship over the years.

"I leave with great memories and wish the club the best for the future."

Saints football boss Lenny Hayes said the club was adamant about receiving a fair return if it was to let Marshall leave.

"While we respected Rowan’s desire for a fresh environment, it was important the club received adequate compensation for someone who’s played at a consistently high level over the course of the past decade," he said.

"We are pleased to have achieved this by bringing in another first round selection, alongside our existing pick 8.

"Rowan has provided terrific service and been an admired figure within the St Kilda Football Club over the past decade.

"While we would have liked for Rowan to see out his career at the Saints, we wish him the best for this next chapter and thank him for the role he’s played within our club – both on and off the field."

Geelong footy boss Andrew Mackie said the club was thrilled to land Marshall, who is regarded as one of the League's most talented rucks and a dominant force around stoppages.

"We are delighted to bring in someone of Rowan's calibre, he is a talented player who brings a wealth of experience to our ruck and key position stocks," Mackie said.

"We’re really excited Rowan wanted to be part of our club and continue the next part of his football journey with Geelong."
