CARLTON has confirmed Lachie Cowan and Will Hayward were admitted to hospital after separate incidents on Sunday morning.

The Blues said Cowan "received medical treatment and underwent observation before being discharged", but did not provide specifics on his condition or why he required treatment.

The club said Hayward admitted himself and received stitches to a "minor cut" suffered after a fall before he was also discharged.

"The Club has been in regular contact with both players, with priority for their wellbeing and both players have now received the necessary care relating to their separate circumstances," the club said in a statement.

Cowan played 24 games for the Blues this season and has managed 62 in total since being taken in the second round of the 2022 draft.

Hayward played 21 games in 2026 in his first season for the club after being part of the high-profile Charlie Curnow trade last season. The forward played 184 games for Sydney in nine seasons.

The Carlton Football Club can confirm that Lachie Cowan and Will Hayward were admitted to hospital under separate circumstances on Sunday morning. 

Cowan received medical treatment and underwent observation, before being discharged a short time later.

Will Hayward experienced a minor cut to the head after a fall, and admitted himself to hospital where he received stitches before being discharged.

The Club has been in regular contact with both players, with priority for their wellbeing and both players have now received the necessary care relating to their separate circumstances.
