Wotherspoon was the standout in a ruthless Melbourne performance, with her final-term burst helping put the result beyond doubt in perfect conditions in front of 1,867 fans.

The win moves the Demons back into second place on the ladder and secures their place in finals alongside Geelong and North Melbourne, while nine individual goalkickers underlined their attacking depth.

Crows end Suns' winning streak to boost finals chances

SISTERS Grace and Niamh Kelly combined for five goals to propel Adelaide to a scintillating 10-point win against Gold Coast in a pulsating instant classic at Unley Oval on Saturday.

Playing against her old side for the first time, Anne Hatchard started on the ball and had seven touches and two clearances in the first quarter, and kicked two crucial goals in the tense final term.

But young Adelaide star Chloe Bown capped a brilliant individual display with a superb goal with a minute remaining to seal a memorable win that keeps the Crows in the finals hunt.

On a sour note for Adelaide, Maddie Newman was carried from the ground in the third quarter with a potentially serious left knee injury.

Charlie Rowbottom was outstanding for the Suns, who were left to rue their wastefulness in front of goal after a loss that ended their barnstorming run of six wins.

Ebony Marinoff was instrumental on the ball for Adelaide, while Grace Kelly kicked three goals in an AFLW game for the first time and Niamh booted two.

Rampaging Bulldogs bare their teeth in statement win over Blues

THE WESTERN Bulldogs secured their fifth victory in a row with a barnstorming win over Carlton, strengthening their claims for a top-four spot this season.

Mikala Cann (27 disposals and a goal), Isabelle Pritchard (24 and five clearances), and Jess Fitzgerald (20 and four rebound 50s) had plenty of impact for the Bulldogs in their 30-point win.

Harriet Cordner (30 disposals, 16 marks, and six rebound 50s) fought hard for the Blues but Mathew Buck's side were comfortably beaten in the contest.

Lions end losing run to put dent in Power's finals chances

BRISBANE snapped its five-game losing streak, putting a big dent in Port Adelaide's finals aspirations with a 16-point win at Brighton Homes Arena on Saturday.

Playing in cool and windy conditions the Lions kicked the first three goals of the game and held the visitors at arm's length most of the afternoon in the 5.4 (34) to 2.6 (18) triumph.

It was just their third win of the season and came courtesy of a grinding performance that took contributions from all over the field.

Captain Bre Koenen led a resolute backline that kept Port to just two goals from 39 entries, with excellent outings from 50-gamer Jen Dunne (17 disposals) and Jade Ellenger (21).

Ally Anderson (24), inspirational Belle Dawes (16, a goal and nine tackles) and Charlie Mullins (18) led a midfield that held its own against a strong Port outfit.

Teagan Germech (14 intercepts) was almost impassable in defence for the visitors, while Matilda Scholz (22 and a goal following a spectacular mark) and Abbey Dowrick (28) also worked hard.

Cats' premiership charge gathers pace after rout of Eagles

GEELONG has flexed its muscle in a powerful second half against West Coast, further cementing itself as a serious premiership contender with a 53-point win at Sullivan Logistics Stadium on Saturday.

Undefeated since round one, the Cats booted six unanswered goals after the main break against an out of sorts Eagles team, winning 8.18 (66) to 1.7 (13) as the Eagles went goalless until the final three minutes of the game in a disappointing performance.

The final margin reflected the Eagles' biggest loss of the season, and their second heaviest defeat in coach Daisy Pearce's three seasons, dealing a significant blow to the club's finals hopes after a recent four-match winning streak had ignited their chances.

Star midfielder Georgie Prespakis was outstanding for Geelong with 39 disposals and 13 score involvements, while Nina Morrison (27 and eight tackles) and former Eagle Mikayla Bowen (27 and eight) did a power of grunt work in the middle as the Cats spread their eight goals between eight players in a deep and even team performance.

Swans down Pies to have one foot inside finals door

SYDNEY is one step closer to a return to finals, proving to be far too good for the young Collingwood squad in a 51-point win at Windy Hill.

Led by former Pie Chloe Molloy and Cynthia Hamilton in the front half, the Swans were a class above, essentially locking away the 12.8 (80) to 4.5 (29) win by quarter-time.

The Swans didn't have it all their own way for the full four quarters, and the Pies' pressure was good in patches, but it certainly wasn't intense enough for long enough, and the firepower in red and white were a step faster when the ball was out in space.

Midfielders Montana Ham, Lucy McEvoy and Laura Gardiner wore down their Collingwood counterparts as the match progressed, and their eventual clearance dominance translated to owning territory in attack.

Hawks stumble in finals race as Giants prevail in one-point epic

HAWTHORN'S finals hopes suffered a devastating blow on Sunday afternoon as Greater Western Sydney pulled off a thrilling one-point upset, winning 7.13 (55) to 7.12 (54) at Henson Park.

Needing a victory to leapfrog Adelaide back into eighth spot, the Hawks fell agonisingly short in a result that flips the race for the AFLW top eight on its head.

Celebrating defender Tilly Lucas-Rodd's historic 100th AFLW game, the Giants held on through a chaotic final sequence. Hawthorn forward Aine McDonagh had the chance to snatch victory in the dying seconds after marking in the forward pocket, but her quick play-on snap drifted wide.

The Giants narrowly won the clearance battle 27–25, and while Hawthorn controlled territory with a 39–32 advantage in inside 50s, but GWS proved sharper in execution, converting 60.6 per cent of its entries to secure just its second win of the season.

Roos ramp it up to shake off plucky Bombers, keep top spot

North Melbourne has put together a strong second half to survive a scare against Essendon, running away with a 52-point victory.

The Bombers jumped out of the gates strongly and caught the Roos off guard but the Kangas were able to get the game back on their terms, eventually proving too classy in the 12.13 (85) to 5.3 (33) win.

In the front half, Irish gun Vikki Wall was menacing with two goals from 20 disposals, while key forward Tahlia Randall (three goals) was also dangerous and had a serious presence in the air.

Dockers survive Saints scare to nudge into top eight

FREMANTLE is back in the top eight after a pulsating 11-point win against a spirited St Kilda, with star recruit Eden Zanker booting a pair of clutch fourth-quarter goals to drive the Dockers home at Cockburn ARC Oval.

The Saints played with great energy and passion in caretaker coach Matt Brewer's first game in charge, and they took the lead early in the fourth term after Ashleigh Richards drove through a tackle and converted from long-range.

Freo steadied from there, however, and booted three goals in six minutes to lock away its fifth win of the season, 7.8 (51) to 6.4 (40), celebrating the milestones of midfielder Aisling McCarthy (75 games) and forward Bella Smith (50 games) in style.

It was a crucial home win for Lisa Webb's team after entering the match with a 1-3 record at their new AFLW base, with small forward Noa McNaughton and Zanker each booting two goals and standing up in the big moments late.
