COLLINGWOOD swingman Ben Reid has been ruled out of Saturday's VFL clash against Sandringham after injuring his quad at training on Friday.

Reid played his first game of the season against the Casey Scorpions last week, coming back from a calf injury that had sidelined him since March 2.

Magpies football director Rodney Eade confirmed Reid's latest setback on Saturday morning.

"He's had a bit of a setback. It’s not his calf, but at training on Friday he pulled up sore in his quad," Eade told collingwoodfc.com.au.

"It's nothing major. We're not too sure of the time frame at this stage.

"It's not a serious one but we will be cautious with his rehab."

The 25-year-old kicked two goals from seven disposals against the Scorpions last week and was looking to further push his claim for a senior recall on Saturday.
