GEELONG star Joel Selwood will lead the Cats for a fourth season after the club revealed a reduced leadership group for 2015.

The 26-year-old, who took on the captain's role at the start of 2012, is one of just five members in the experienced leadership group.

Harry Taylor has been named vice-captain, while Tom Hawkins and Andrew Mackie remain in the group. In what is expected to be his last AFL season, veteran Corey Enright has returned to the group after a two-year absence.

Steve Johnson, Mathew Stokes, James Kelly and Mitch Duncan have been left out of the reduced squad.

"It's great to have Corey back in the group," Selwood said.

"We look forward to working together, we're in a position where we think we can still … contend with these really good sides. We've got a job to do and we’re really looking forward to getting down to it."

Selwood's 2015 season set to start

Cats football manager Steve Hocking said the club had chosen to cut the size of the group to ensure a simpler process of making the best decisions.

"This year we made a conscious decision to reduce the size of the group to allow more efficient decision-making, and these players rated the highest amongst their peers for their values, the way they play and lead," he said.

"We think they will represent the playing group, the team and the club very well."

Selwood, a key member of Geelong's 2007, 2009 and 2011 premierships, is set to play his 200th game for the Cats this season.

He enters the year on 184 games, with the Cats to open their season on April 6 against Hawthorn in an Easter Monday clash.
