The AFL is pleased to announce the 2015 NAB AFL Draft will be held in Adelaide.

The Adelaide Convention Centre will host the event on Tuesday November 24 at 5.30pm ACDT.

It will be the second time the event will be held in Adelaide and the sixth time it has been held outside Victoria since its inception in 1986.

The NAB AFL Draft will be one of a number of AFL industry activations that will be held in Adelaide in November.

AFL Chief Executive Gillon McLachlan said it was exciting to be moving the NAB AFL Draft to Adelaide.

“I thank the South Australian Government for their continued support of the AFL and for their commitment to stage the 2015 Draft,” Mr McLachlan said.

“The nature of the event allows us to review the location every few years and it is exciting that another city, and another market of fans, will be able to witness the NAB AFL Draft live.

“The AFL industry looks forward to descending on the great city of Adelaide in November when we welcome the next wave of talented footballers into the 18 clubs.

“I also acknowledge the NAB, the naming rights partner for the AFL Draft for over ten years, and the entire Rising Star Program.”

Tourism Minister Leon Bignell said along with the players vying for selection, about 350 AFL officials and executives, coaches, draftees and AFL media, will also be in Adelaide.

“The 2015 NAB AFL Draft is not just for the players and the clubs, but for fans as well.  I hope to see a couple of thousand attend the Draft to see how their club performs and who the future stars of the sport will be,” Mr Bignell said.

National Australia Bank’s General Manager, Retail Banking for South Australia, Gregg Harris, spoke of NAB’s ongoing support of the AFL talent pathway, and the important role the NAB AFL Draft plays in building the future of the game.

“NAB has partnered with the AFL for well over a decade and during this time, we’ve seen the NAB AFL Rising Stars pathway shape some of the country’s most outstanding young footballers. The NAB AFL Draft is a significant milestone within the pathway, and we wish the nominated players all the very best,” Mr Harris said.

“We are thrilled to see the NAB AFL Draft coming to South Australia, and thank the AFL for giving us the opportunity to host the event here in the heartland of SA football. We will be encouraging all of our staff and customers to either head along or tune-in,” he continued.

The NAB AFL Draft will be one of interest. For the first time future Draft selections will be part of trading options during the NAB AFL Trading Period and there will be live bidding on Draft night on father/son and Academy selections.

The NAB AFL Draft was held in Adelaide in 1997. Players selected that year included Brad Ottens, Trent Croad, Luke Power, Chad Cornes, Simon Black, Adam Goodes and Matthew Scarlett.

The NAB AFL Draft will be free to the public.

The NAB AFL Draft will be broadcast live nationally on FOX FOOTY and streamed on AFL.com.au.
