BILLY Hartung is this year's Grand Final heartbreak story with the Hawthorn youngster making way for Jack Gunston for Saturday's decider against an unchanged West Coast.

Gunston has been named after overcoming a right ankle injury sustained in the Hawks' losing qualifying final three weeks ago.

The 23-year-old's recovery means Hartung, who has been the Hawks' substitute in the past two finals after he was dropped in round 23, will miss the chance to play in a premiership.

The Hawks have opted to stick with swingman Ryan Schoenmakers, who looks to finally have the chance to end his Grand Final heartbreak.

Schoenmakers didn't play in either of the Hawks' recent flags but was part of the 2012 losing Grand Final side.

He replaced Gunston for the Hawks' semi-final win over Adelaide and put in a decent performance last week against Fremantle.

Gunston has been named to start on the bench, while Hartung is an emergency along with Jon Ceglar and Angus Litherland.

Litherland has also been named as the Hawks' representative in the 13 CABS AFL Grand Final sprint.

The Hawks have, as expected, named Luke Hodge despite the captain receiving treatment on his sore right hamstring late in the game against the Dockers.

He underwent a fitness test earlier in the week but trained strongly with Gunston on Thursday at Waverley.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have named an unchanged line up flying to Melbourne on Thursday with a squad of 26.

They arrived with Scott Lycett, Scott Selwood, Patrick McGinnity and Jackson Nelson outside of last week's selected 22.

The former three have been named as emergencies with 19-year-old Nelson appearing to have travelled for the experience.

Selwood, who is remains out of contract and linked to a move to Geelong to join brother Joel, was dropped – along with McGinnity - for the preliminary final win over North Melbourne.

The game will be umpired by Jeff Dalgleish, Brett Rosebury and Matt Stevic, with Ray Chamberlain named as the emergency.
