THE BRISBANE Lions have been fined after failing to provide ASADA with up-to-date information about the whereabouts of two Lions' players.
According to the AFL no tests were missed because of the lack of up-to-date player whereabouts information but the breach of the rules was enough to incur a $5000 fine.
Under the requirements of the Anti-Doping Code, all clubs in the AFL competition are required to keep ASADA notified at all times of the whereabouts of listed playersfor testing purposes.
AFL players may be tested 365 days of the year for WADA prohibited drugs.
Although the club was fined and is responsible for providing whereabouts information to ASADA, in both cases the two players involved failed to keep the Lions informed of all their movements and contact details.
The Lions have begun to restructure its football department with respected Adelaide football chief David Noble becoming the Lions chief of football a fortnight ago.
They are also expected to announce a new coach this week with former Hawthorn football manager Chris Fagan favourite to win the job with Carlton assistant John Barker and former Western Bulldogs assistant Brett Montgomery also candidates.
