CARLTON has loaded up the big names for its trip to Domain Stadium for Friday night's JLT Community Series clash against Fremantle.

Coming off a disappointing 92-point loss to St Kilda last Saturday, the Blues will be significantly bolstered with the return of skipper Marc Murphy along with Bryce Gibbs, Kade Simpson, Matthew Kreuzer and Jack Silvagni.

This was the plan for the Blues all along, given they faced a six-day turnaround – and a cross-country flight – between pre-season games.

Also named in Carlton's squad is key defender Alex Silvagni – cousin of Jack and the remainder of the famous Carlton clan – who was rookie listed by the Blues this year after 53 games in seven seasons for the Dockers.

Dylan Buckley (hip) and Charlie Curnow (shoulder) both won't make the trip.

Fremantle might get its first look at Griffin Logue, the Swan Districts backman selected with the eighth selection overall at last year's NAB AFL Draft.

The Dockers have also named new spearhead Shane Kersten despite suffering a rib injury during the last-gasp win over Collingwood at Mandurah last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Sam Wright's ankles are fully repaired and the North Melbourne defender will play his first game at AFL level since round 11 last season when he steps on to Manuka Oval for Thursday night's JLT Community Series clash with Greater Western Sydney.

Wright, 26, managed just eight games for the Kangas last season before breaking down and he ended up having surgery on both ankles during the middle of the season.

He failed in a bid to return ahead of the finals and had more surgery after North's exit from the finals so that he could have a complete pre-season.

The Kangas will take a strong squad to their former secondary home ground, with only Marley Williams, Mason Wood and Ben Brown missing from their likely best 22.

The Giants' 27-man squad looks also particularly good. Brett Deledio (calf) is the only big name missing and he will not be playing in round one in any event.

No.2 draft pick Tim Taranto keeps his place, suggesting a round one debut for the Giants is on the cards.

Teams can use up to 24 players in the final pre-season game and interchange rotation limits come into play for the first time this year.
