GREATER Western Sydney has suffered another blow in the lead-up to round one, losing Aidan Corr to a hand injury.

The key defender landed awkwardly on his hand during the Giants' 38-point win over North Melbourne at Manuka Oval on Friday night.

Corr's injury follows a horror few weeks for the early premiership favourites, who have also lost classy midfielders Stephen Coniglio (ankle) and Brett Deledio (calf) to injury.

Giants still in the dark over Deledio layoff

The 22-year-old saw a specialist on Monday, and while scans showed he hasn't broken any bones, he has injured the capsule at the base of his hand.

Coach Leon Cameron suggested on Tuesday Corr could miss four or five weeks.

"Those guys (Corr and Coniglio) no doubt would have been playing round one, but that's life and there's no doubt a lot of clubs have to put up with that," Cameron said on AFL Tonight.

The Irish-born Corr managed only three games last year, suffering a serious ankle injury in round three. He returned at the end of the season to play five NEAFL games.

He will have his hand in a splint for the next fortnight after which a more definite timeline will be set for his return.

Coniglio could miss up to six weeks with a syndesmosis injury to the top of his ankle, while no clear timeframe has been set for Deledio's return.

GWS takes on Adelaide in round one, on Sunday, March 26.
