PORT Adelaide will consider handing forward Brett Eddy an AFL lifeline to help with its wayward goal-kicking for Sunday's clash with West Coast at Domain Stadium.

Eddy, 27, played the first three games of the season after being selected as a mature-aged recruit from South Adelaide in the rookie draft last year.

The Power's inaccuracy has been an issue all season, costing them dearly as they kicked 8.15 in their 13-point loss to Richmond last weekend.

"Brett's performing well in that space," Power assistant coach Matthew Nicks said on Tuesday.

"He's a quality player, he's a quality finisher, so round peg, round hole.

"That may be something we do look at."

Winger Karl Amon won't be making the trip to Perth and will miss another week or two with a knee injury.

Half-back Hamish Hartlett remains in doubt after picking up a cork to his quad in the loss to the Tigers.

"We'll have to see how it plays out for him," Nicks said.

"We've got to travel over to Perth, so that's another thing that will go against him.

"At this point, we don't know enough information and we'll train tomorrow."

Key defender Jack Hombsch has been cleared to return from a knee injury.

The Power (8-6) are desperate to shake the pretenders tag, having lost all five games against top-eight sides this season.

A win over the resurgent Eagles (8-6) would stop that talk, but they have a raft of big guns set to return, including Coleman Medallist Josh Kennedy, skipper Shannon Hurn, sharpshooter Mark LeCras and Brownlow Medallist Matt Priddis.

"That's good, it adds to the challenge and they're all fantastic footballers," Nicks said.

"We'll have to be on our game and we'll have to get over there and butter up after this loss."
