THE BRISBANE Lions have delisted five players, including experienced defender Ryan Harwood and key forward Jono Freeman.

Midfielder Jarrad Jansen, utility Josh Clayton and rookie Blake Grewar have also been told by the Lions their contracts would not be renewed.

Free agent Harwood is the most experienced of the five to be cut, having played 81 games in his eight seasons at the club.

The running defender played just nine games in 2017 and has been dogged by an assortment of leg injuries over his time at the Lions.

Freeman was the first member of the Lions' academy to be drafted to the club's senior list, but like Harwood, has been cruelled by injuries.

The 23-year-old played just 14 games over his four seasons, kicking 16 goals, including four in his second game against Collingwood at the MCG in 2014.

Freeman has not played a senior match since round 11, 2016.

Jansen played eight games at the Lions in two years after being traded by Geelong, while Clayton played two games in 2016.

Grewar, Jansen, Clayton and Freeman all played in Saturday's NEAFL Grand Final win over Sydney.
