WEST Coast has launched a play to make Andrew Gaff an Eagle for life.

AFL.com.au understands the Eagles have upped the ante to keep the star midfielder, with the club prepared to offer a six-year deal.

The restricted free agent has been the target of interest from multiple Victorian clubs, but the multi-million dollar deal would keep the All Australian at the Eagles until the end of the 2024 season.

Gaff, who turned 26 last week, has proven to be one of the most durable players in the competition, missing just one game after his debut season of 2011.

He is the AFL's premier wingman, averaging 29.5 disposals and a career-high 8.8 contested possessions in 12 games this season as a key member of the Eagles' premiership assault.

Melbourne, Carlton, North Melbourne and St Kilda are among the Victorian clubs who have monitored Gaff in the hope to lure him back to his home state of Victoria.

However, some believe he is more likely to remain at the Eagles where he is settled and playing for a flag contender.

Gaff's contract situation has put him in the spotlight this season but he has previously proven he is happy to wait before recommitting to the Eagles, having last agreed to a two-year contract extension in July, 2016.

Earlier this month Gaff's manager, Paul Connors, spent the bye weekend in Perth and met with West Coast.

Gaff said in May that the chance of success will "play a big decision in my mind" when making a call on his future but would not be drawn on when he would come to that call.

He said the Eagles' brilliant start to the season hadn't changed his timeline on contract talks.

"It's very exciting for the footy club, but I've been pretty firm in my stance that I'll get that (contract) done later in the year. But it's just so exciting the youth and enthusiasm at the club at the moment and, obviously, the excitement around the state of WA with us playing well," Gaff said.

"I am more focused on that and what will happen, will happen later in the year."

Gaff is one of three big name free agents at the club, with Jeremy McGovern and Scott Lycett also out of contract at the end of the season and yet to sign on with the Eagles.
