BROUGHT TO YOU BYMLC

CARLTON’S gallant effort at the MCG on Sunday came at a heavy cost, with three of its big names joining a growing injury list.

Ruckman Matthew Kreuzer’s afternoon ended prematurely after he hurt an ankle in the first half, key defender Lachie Plowman went down in the third quarter with what appears to be a serious knee injury, while tall forward Levi Casboult broke a finger late in the warm-up.

Collingwood may be without Levi Greenwood for its trip to the Gold Coast on Saturday, after the midfielder was left concussed following a strong Dale Thomas shepherd midway through the final term.

THE RUN HOME How the contenders are shaping up

Greenwood, who was oblivious to the impending contact, was left shaken.

Teammate Adam Treloar went down with what seemed to be a nasty hamstring injury, but it appears the gun onballer was suffering from a severe case of cramp.

North Melbourne’s Billy Hartung, who was a late inclusion for Ben Jacobs (delayed onset concussion) against the Dogs on Saturday night, will likely miss several weeks after he limped from the ground midway through the second quarter with a left hamstring injury.

Hawthorn will keep an eye on Shaun Burgoyne ahead of its crunch clash with Greater Western Sydney on Saturday night after the star veteran sat out the final term of the Hawks’ big win over Gold Coast with a tight hamstring.

The Hawks will also monitor versatile tall Jack Gunston, who hurt a calf early in the game, but played out the match.

The Suns may be without Sam Day, after he left the field in the final quarter clutching his right shoulder following a marking contest.

In-form Lions defender Harris Andrews faces an uphill battle to be fit to take on Fremantle in Perth on Sunday.

The Brisbane vice-captain was knocked out in a sickening first-quarter collision with Jeremy Cameron and spent Saturday night in hospital.

Fellow Lion Darcy Gardiner hobbled off in the first quarter with an ankle problem but returned to run the game out strongly.

The Western Bulldogs could be without Jackson Trengove when they take on Geelong on Friday night, after the utility went into the rooms early in the final quarter with a suspected ankle injury.

Melbourne will keep a close watch on Tom McDonald and Neville Jetta, but both are expected to play against St Kilda on Sunday.

McDonald was sent for precautionary scans in Adelaide, after he was left bloodied following a big bump from Tom Jonas in the final term, while Jetta rolled an ankle and copped a nasty head knock in the match.

Port Adelaide’s Riley Bonner spent some time off the ground with a hand injury and Todd Marshall had his cheekbone checked by medical staff after a bump from Oscar McDonald, but the Power escaped their vital win unscathed.

At Essendon, young Bomber Mason Redman hurt his right ankle late in the surprise win over West Coast and is in doubt for the round 15 contest against North Melbourne.

Redman was on crutches post-game.

Teammate Josh Green had his foot stomped on but played out the game and should be fine to face the Roos.
