DAVID Mundy is set to join Fremantle legend Matthew Pavlich in the 300-game club next season after signing to go around again in 2019.

The 33-year-old has been in vintage touch this year, and is likely to contend with Lachie Neale for his second Doig Medal at season's end.

Provided he plays the final two matches, Mundy will only need six appearances next year to join Pavlich (353) as the only WA-based players in an exclusive club.

"I’m fortunate enough to be offered another contract, so I’ll be continuing my individual journey for at least another year at Fremantle," Mundy said.

"I’m very thankful for being able to play AFL football and I feel very lucky that this can continue."

Mundy has played every game this season, with his cool head and consistency critical in a youthful line-up.

Switched between midfield and forward roles, he has averaged nearly 23 disposals and kicked a career-best 17 majors – only five shy of leading goalkicker Michael Walters.

The former skipper has been a 'Mr Fix It' for coach Ross Lyon as the Dockers embarked on their rebuild, and after three lean seasons of four, eight and eight wins he believes the club is on the right path.

"It’s been a challenging couple of years but I think we’ve seen another step forward in our progression," Mundy said.

"To see some of the young guys coming on this year has been really exciting.

"I’ve found it great. I’ve enjoyed my role in that and, hopefully, those guys have got something out of it and find it beneficial as well.

"I certainly enjoy the challenge, first of all of performing on game day, and interacting with the guys throughout the week and passing on some of my knowledge."

The Dockers have also re-signed youngsters Bailey Banfield, Taylin Duman and Hugh Dixon this week, and have publicly committed to injury-plagued Harley Bennell.

Small forward Hayden Ballantyne is expected to be offered a new one-year deal, but warhorse ruckman Aaron Sandilands' future is clouded.

Sandilands, reportedly discussed as a target by West Coast to bolster thin ruck stocks, has managed only 26 appearances in the past three seasons.

He is still sidelined by a calf complaint from round 13 but is aiming to play in the final round against Collingwood, which could be a farewell to several veterans.
