Reports on Channel Seven on Tuesday night indicated Wingard was likely request a trade to the Hawks imminently, with the Western Bulldogs also keen on his signature.

Wingard's future with Port Adelaide remains in limbo, with suggestions he could leave the club ramping up over the weekend following a cryptic Instagram post from the star forward.

He wrote: "You'll hear my side of the story when the time is right (don't worry) about that."

Wingard, 25, is a two-time All Australian and has played 147 games for the Power. He averaged 20.8 disposals per game in 2018, also kicking 22 goals from 21 matches.

He remains under contract at Port Adelaide through until 2019.

Shiel chooses success over salary

In Tuesday's biggest trade story, star Greater Western Sydney midfielder Shiel nominated Essendon as his preferred destination as he seeks a return to Victoria.

And while the Bombers beat the Blues, the Hawks and the Saints in the race for his signature, they did so with the lowest contract offer of the four clubs.

The Herald Sun says Essendon's bid was worth around $2 million less than those of Carlton and St Kilda over six years, but was enough to sway Shiel.

The report also states GWS could ask for two first-round draft picks as part of the trade.

Shiel, 25, averaged 25.9 disposals per game for the Giants this season.

Collingwood defender Tom Langdon has toured Sydney as the uncertainty surrounding his future continues to linger, according to reports on Fox Sports.

Langdon has an offer on the table from the Pies, though his management has been candid in revealing that he is considering his options after being made to wait for a new deal.

Race for Melbourne midfielder hots up

North Melbourne and Gold Coast are set to do battle for Melbourne midfielder Dom Tyson.

AFL.com.au reported on Tuesday night the Kangaroos have turned their attentions towards Tyson after missing out on signing Eagles free agent Andrew Gaff.

The Age reports that despite interest from the Suns, Tyson is leaning towards making Arden Street his preferred destination as he prepares to leave the Demons.

Tyson, who is under contract next year, is set to consider his future after a frustrating season, and could be involved in a straight swap for ruckman Braydon Preuss.

The talented 25-year-old midfielder played 17 games in 2018, averaging 20 disposals.
