DEFENDER Marcus Adams has received his wish to be traded from the Western Bulldogs to Brisbane.

The Lions gave up No.32 in this year's NAB AFL Draft, as well as a third-round selection for 2019, which is tied to Gold Coast.

Adams had been contracted by the Dogs until 2020 after inking a new deal last May.

Foot, ankle, shoulder and finger injuries have forced him to the sidelines on various occasions throughout his career.

Drafted at No.35 in 2015, he has lined up in 27 career games, six of which came this year.

The Bulldogs originally refused to trade the West Australian when he made his trade request.

Dogs list manager Sam Power said he was willing to give Adams up considering the backmen already at his side's disposal

"In our discussions with other clubs in relation to a potential trade with Marcus, we were clear about our reluctance to allow a contracted player to leave, unless the club was adequately compensated," Power told westernbulldogs.com.au.

"We are comfortable with the mix of defenders we currently have on our list, and bringing in more draft picks puts us in a stronger position for this and next year's draft.

"We thank Marcus for his efforts during his time at the Bulldogs, and wish him well for the remainder of his AFL career."

Adams, 25, has a long right boot, is a strong mark and is athletic.

Brisbane football manager David Noble told lions.com.au Adams could play forward or back.

"We are thrilled to land another player with experience and versatility into our group," Noble said.

"Marcus can play at either end of the ground, is competitive and fits our age demographic.

"As a driven young man, Marcus will bring qualities to our culture and environment that we look for at our club.

"This will continue to see our improvement & growth as a team in the years to come."
