SUCCESS is everything in footy, just ask Adam Simpson.

The West Coast premiership coach has ended the year with the highest approval rating of any senior coach in the AFL, handed a score of 99 per cent by Eagles supporters in the latest AFL.com.au Fans' Survey.

It marks an incredible turnaround for Simpson, who finished last season with an approval rating of just 72 per cent – the fourth lowest of any coach in the League.

It's a similar story for Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley, whose popularity rating has soared from 52 per cent at this time last year – the joint-lowest of any coach in the AFL – to 98 per cent after taking the Pies to this year's Grand Final.

According to supporters, North Melbourne coach Brad Scott was alongside Buckley as the man under the most pressure at the end of the 2017 season. He, too, has benefited from an impressive year in which the Kangaroos narrowly missed out on qualifying for the finals.

As a result, Scott's approval rating has risen from 52 per cent to 88 per cent.

St Kilda coach Alan Richardson is feeling the most heat, with his popularity rating dipping from 82 per cent last year to just 29 per cent at the conclusion of the 2018 season.

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley (41 per cent approval rating) and Geelong coach Chris Scott (40 per cent) are the other two coaches feeling the most heat at the end of the year.

Brisbane coach Chris Fagan had the highest popularity rating at this time last year, with his score staying at a lofty 99 per cent over the last 12 months.
