SYDNEY is still weighing up whether to sign Daniel Menzel as a delisted free agent, and is keen to gather all the information before deciding whether to commit to the former Geelong forward ahead of the second AFL list lodgement deadline on November 16.

Menzel flew in from the United States, where he was holidaying with former teammates and other friends, to complete a medical with Swans doctor Tom Cross on Wednesday.

Sydney now has that information in its keeping and Swans list manager Kinnear Beatson told AFL.com.au discussions about recruiting Menzel would take place over the next week.

"The process in terms of where we go to from here is a little bit complicated in the fact that Tom Harley (football manager), John Longmire (coach) and Matt Cameron (head physio) are all in England at the moment and the time difference makes it challenging to communicate," Beatson said.

"They've got all the information as well but we aren't in any position yet to make a call one way or the other."

Delisted free agency period No.2 starts on Saturday and finishes next Friday.

"We've got up until the 16th of November, but we will have decided our position before that time," Beatson said.

"Now we've got everything we need, and Daniel has done his medical, we can progress from here."

Menzel's promising career was cut down in its prime after he underwent four separate knee reconstructions.

The talented forward was restricted to just 13 games in 2018 for the Cats after an injection to try to relieve the pain and discomfort in his troublesome groins went awry.

Despite the 27-year-old kicking 136 goals in 73 games, the Cats decided not to offer Menzel a contract for the 2019 season after sticking by him for nine years.

The forward has been criticised for his lack of forward pressure, but Menzel appeals to the Swans given his ability to kick goals on a consistent basis with Sydney eager to reduce its reliance on superstar Lance Franklin.
