ADELAIDE defender Tom Doedee left training early on Thursday morning with tightness in his right quad.

Doedee was removed from the session at Football Park as a precaution, and he will have scans on Friday.

Doedee completed the warm-up and a group kicking drill before walking to the side of the oval and speaking to the club's medical staff.

A few minutes later, Doedee left the ground and headed inside the clubrooms with a trainer.

"Tom will have a precautionary scan, that's just something that bobbed up today," Crows midfielder David Mackay said.

"This time of the pre-season, we've got a period of time before we start playing, it's really just taking every precaution, making sure we're not pushing everything, so Tom will have the scan done and we'll conservatively manage that and hopefully it's nothing too major.

"(It was) a bit of tightness and (we're taking) no risk and every precaution and he should be fine."

The 21-year-old was a revelation for the Crows last season, playing 20 games as an intercept marking defender and filling the role played by Jake Lever, who joined Melbourne at the end of 2017.

Doedee missed one game with concussion before breaking his collarbone in round 22 and missing the following week's encounter with Carlton.

He finished second in the NAB AFL Rising Star award behind Collingwood's Jaidyn Stephenson.

Key back Kyle Hartigan continued to increase his training loads in his recovery from surgery on both knees, completing sprints and individual kicking drills.

Star defender Daniel Talia was again absent as he continues his rehab from knee surgery, putting him in doubt for the JLT Community Series.

"Harto has done quite a bit of work, he's just had to build up really slowly," Mackay said.

"He's really close to joining the main group again.

"And (Talia), he had done a lot of work prior to his operation, so that's going to hold him in pretty good stead.

"He's started running, so he's back on his feet and moving.

"He'll progress pretty quickly now that he's started running again, and he's really positive where his rehab is at."

Midfielder Hugh Greenwood did some kicking and running along the boundary line as he builds back up from an abdominal tendon injury.

Midfielder Myles Poholke (toe) and half-back Andrew McPherson (groin) ran laps together.

The Crows were put through a solid session in 32-degree heat.

"These conditions, although they are really difficult, it does provide a great platform for us," Mackay said.

"We certainly get bang for our buck when we train in these conditions.

"The boys are ticking over really well."
