NORTH Melbourne recruit Aaron Hall has escaped serious damage to his knee after a nasty incident in the loss to St Kilda in the JLT Community Series on Saturday.

Hall was hurt when St Kilda ruckman Lewis Pierce fell across his left knee after a centre bounce, and the former Sun was assisted from the ground by two trainers, struggling to put any weight on his left leg.

However, after having his knee strapped, Hall returned to the ground at the start of the second quarter and was straight back into the thick of the action.

But he didn't take the field after half-time after reporting soreness in his knee.

"It was a nasty looking incident at first glance and again on the replay, but thankfully Aaron has avoided what easily could have been a pretty bad injury," head of football Cameron Joyce said on the club's website.

"He had scans yesterday which came back positive, so it was a great outcome for him and the club."

Joyce said a decision on whether Hall would line-up for North's second JLT match against Port Adelaide would be made later in the week.

"Although he’s escaped serious injury, we'll monitor him over the next couple of days and assess his availability."
