ESSENDON'S fitness department is in for a revamp one week into the season following the departure of strength and conditioning manager Paul Turk.

Turk will this week leave the Bombers after eight years.

He was North Melbourne's strength and conditioning coach for six seasons before joining Essendon.

Turk has accepted a job with AFL Queensland and will be based on the Gold Coast.

Essendon's general manager of football, Dan Richardson, said the Bombers would use current staff to replace the roles played by Turk.

"Paul is Essendon through and through and he's made a difficult decision to leave," Richardson said.

"He told us six weeks ago. He's had aspirations to live on the Gold Coast and we wish him nothing but the best."
