SYDNEY big man Callum Sinclair has signed a new two-year contract extension.

As forecast by AFL.com.au last week, the 29-year-old wanted to finalise his contract early in the season.

He is signed up until the end of 2021.

Sinclair put in perhaps the finest campaign of his career after fellow big man Sam Naismith went down with a serious right knee injury last March.

He averaged 15 disposals, 29 hitouts, three inside 50s and three clearances per game, all of which were career-high marks.

Originally picked up by West Coast in the 2012 rookie draft at No.12, he was traded at the end of 2015 for speedster Lewis Jetta.

His presence will be especially important considering Naismith had further surgery on his right knee last Wednesday.

IN THE MIX Who's pushing their case for a recall?

Swans football manager Charlie Gardiner expressed his delight at keeping Sinclair.

"Ever since coming to the Swans, Callum has been an outstanding clubman and an incredibly popular teammate," Gardiner said.

"His football has been at a really high standard for a while now, particularly in the past 12 months when he shouldered the primary ruck role for the whole season.

"Cal's started season 2019 in a similar fashion and we look forward to seeing him continue to develop and contribute to the team."

Meanwhile, Swans rookie Hayden McLean will wear No.41 after joining the club earlier this month as the new pre-season supplementary selection drew to a close.
