SYDNEY and Collingwood are likely to require reinforcements ahead of Friday night's blockbuster clash at the SCG, after both clubs picked up fresh injury concerns over the weekend.

The Swans lost co-captain Josh Kennedy pre-game to a quad problem and in-form midfielder Zak Jones to a hamstring issue during the second quarter of their thrilling victory over the Kangaroos on Saturday night and will be hoping that superstar forward Lance Franklin is fit to return.

Franklin hasn't played for the Swans since round five due to a hamstring issue, so he will need to get through training during the week to be considered for a recall.

It is unclear whether Kennedy will be fit to take on the Magpies, but Jones is likely to require at least a fortnight on the sidelines and Luke Parker could come under scrutiny for his high hit on North Melbourne captain Jack Ziebell

The Magpies have their own injury concerns, with Tom Langdon unlikely to make the trip to the harbour city after he hurt his knee against the Saints on Saturday afternoon.

Nathan Buckley's side lost Jordan De Goey (shin) and Darcy Moore (ankle) pre-game and the key duo will be closely monitored during the week, while Travis Varcoe faces a nervous wait after he was reported for rough conduct on St Kilda youngster Ed Phillips.

The injury list continues to mount at Geelong, with superstar midfielder Patrick Dangerfield the latest name set for a stint on the sidelines after he picked up an ankle injury against the Bulldogs on Saturday evening.

Dangerfield has been nursing a sore left knee over the past month, but it was his right ankle that caused him grief against the Bulldogs when he hobbled from the ground late.

A dejected Dangerfield was seen icing his ankle on the bench late in the game and on crutches post-match, but Geelong coach Chris Scott does not believe the injury is too severe.

"He has rolled that same ankle previously, I think it was a few weeks ago when he hurt his knee as well," Scott said after the win over the Bulldogs.

"The feedback we've got is that it's a slightly more severe roll of that ankle, but nothing dire … it seems if he'll miss, it'll be on the minor side."

In-form big man Rhys Stanley (adductor) was a late withdrawal from the Geelong side that defeated the Bulldogs, but the Cats expect the ruckman to be fit to tackle the Suns on the Gold Coast on Saturday night.

Small forward Tom Atkins missed the Dogs clash with a hip issue and his fitness will be monitored during the week, while the Suns are hoping to regain experienced midfielder Touk Miller (heel) for the round 10 clash.
